View Full Version : Best brakes on the market
Right with my current project stopping might be an issue. the last thin i wasnt is to be racing a Tvr or Porka and get brake fade, and with the roundabouts round Milton Keynes ill neeed some good ankers...
I've got Red dot disks and omp pads ATM with Braded hoses.

Std discs with ferrodo DS2500 and braided lines, or some 4 pots from wilwood
Heard OMP are wank
Alot of peopel on here rate DS2500's
Personally unless you are doing ALOT of track days tehre is no point in pagiud blues, i've done donnington, cadwell, Ty Croes, and Bruntingthorpe and `15k road miles on one set of pagid fast road pads that are £30 from gsf, and only just started t get brake fade after about 10 laps round cadwell, and it was only on one place after a fair bit of braking

he's probably gonna need to brake from more than 30 mph tho lunner mate :D
only joking
like the engines the brakes seem to be hit n miss, ive been in a few which had cracking brakes and some with shit brakes, mine as std were pants which is one reason why i have wilwood 4pots now, most pad/hoses combo are up to the job but 4pots in general are much better all round just price!

Braking from 105 to 40/50 at Donningotn
Braking from 95ish to about 60ish at cadwell

4 pot kits are around £500 all in mate from raldes
my kit was £360 thats wilwood dynalite forged 4pot calipers/brackets (to fit std size discs), new discs, poly E pads, and hoses(need to be 2inch longer) love em, done 3 trackdays without a drop of fade yet!! :D
i've just finished working on our 4pot kit for the 172/182's (280mm discs) i'm going to test fit it on a williams, just to see if it fits
the disc will, but your mounting bracket for the caliper will be miles off.

apperrently it screws with the handling or the balance of the car or summit i was told. could be rubbish though
Thats what Northy told me.....discs are too heavy

Ferrodo DS2500
brake liquid: motul RBF 600
how does that work then?? screws with the handling??
i think he means because of more unsprung weight on the front, tbh im sticking with 260mm discs due to cost lol alot cheaper for me to get hold of!
Yeah extra weight of the discs, i'm not argueing, he has a 4 pot kit with 172 discs
thing is he needs to weigh the 172 discs against the williams ones and see what difference it really is, most discs are heavier esp bigger u get!
172 discs are VERY heavy compared to 239mm ones
they will be compared to 239mm ones, but i run 259mm up front!
11mm + much lighter calipers can't make much difference???
They are thicker too ;)
But i know what you mean, lets wait for Northy ;)
well what heppens when you put heavier wheel on, same effect
calipers dont spin, and who puts on heavier wheels ;)
track days??? cheapo second hand phs 2 wheel for example
i have speedline comp2 as track wheels, feck knows how much they weigh but i like the look!
My 300mm discs and alloy bells are lighter then standard discs iirc and the Hi-Spec 4 pots are also lighter then the OE calipers

Going off at a tangent, I can recommend the Pagid Blues :)
Std discs with ferrodo DS2500 and braided lines
Dunno how well this combo work with the clio, but it's absolutley Shit hot on an evo, DS's are great pads

IMHO a waste of money
Been on 3 track days now with my pagid fast road pads and haven't had any brake fade

Well I like them!
*sticks tongue out*
lol
They just have a really nice "feel" and give me confidence, so in that respect they are top notch. I haven't tried the others but I may do when these are worn out. (a long time away looking at how they still look fine!)
When they wear out compare them to Pagid fast road ones
