Driven one of them. Cool old thing, but they're totally different to driving anything remotely modern. You just have to enjoy them for what they are rather than compare them to anything new, otherwise you may be dissappointed. Very expensive to maintain too, particularly if you don't like rust

Gorgeous. 8)
Nice highway stormer the old 5 series. But, IMO, recirculating ball steering on them and big power is not the best mix. Give me a decent rack and pinion anyday.

Was it recirculating ball on the E28? I know it was on the E34.
Don't know about beemer model numbers, but the 5 series I drove in early/mid eighties had recir balls. Whereas the 1971 2002ti I had was worm and roller. I actually preferred the worm/roller over the newer recir balls steering. It felt better planted, but then again my 02 was an ex-racer, so may not have been the best standard car benchmark anyway.

E28 is from that time yes.
that alpina at the top is mega juicy, £10 to the shops and back, fast as fcuk for a big car, zero traction in the wet. a mate had one , he turned the steering left and planted it and around we went. drifters wet dream
I'm a fan of beemers to, hopefully my next one will be a E46 ///M3 CSL, have to save like a demon for a bit 1st
The last bm i had, E36 M3 Evo 3.2 etc etc etc was rollin roaded at 330bhp - handy

Gotta agree with that, E30 is a Nice lookin car, probly woulda had 1 o them apart from the Left hand drive thing, hard to find a decent RHD conversion

RHD schmite hand drive. You'd easily get used to LHD.
Plus the RHDs apparently don't drive as nicely. It's not standard for a start :P
Not much user where i live tho, too much DAMN tractors on the road, odds are stacked against u when in a LHD with all the dodgy overtakin that needs done, specially when missus is drivin, almost had a Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 2 (My dream motor) but she wouldnt even get in to a LHD coz "it freaked her out"
