The guy at Renault Manchester on the phone reckoned that the price of £42 each for struts included the top mount kits. Now I know the guy I spoke to was the monkey they put on to cover at lunch and I've had trouble with him before so is he right or talking shite?

Also, when I'm looking on Dialogys at springs it gives a list of colours to pick from. Eh?

Can 172 springs be used on the 16v or only on the willy?

Finally anyone got a vehicle code I can use on dialogys for the 172 variants?

Oh and see if you can get them in Poo Brown, one of my favourite colours

I've read in here that oem Willy springs are 125lbs
Does anyone know what poundage are the 172/cup/182 springs ?
Does dialogys give poundage on the springs ?

FlamingMonkey

Struts almost certainly won't come with the top mount kits. Particularly not for that price.

You may want to wait for someone who knows more about parts type stuff than me though! :P

Do the springs have a coloured dot though?

Zollo
21-02-2006, 18:08
Yeah, Williams ones have a single white dot on them. Not sure about the rest.

I can't see why 172 springs wouldn't fit the Vaver struts tbh. Worth looking on eBay for some on the cheap...

Mine have a white dot as well. I'll check the parts nos. On the phone as we speak to someone that knows.......and he say.......yes, same springs.

Chances of getting some of eGay for Sat though? :-k

172 springs will fit val;ver struts, the part that takes trhe springs is the same throughout the clio range.

Coloured dots refers to the poundage of the spring, pretty sure dialogies doesn't specify what each colour means in terms of poundage

Total Costs (inc VAT):

Shocks Front: 54.87 ea
Shocks Rear: 56.40 ea
Wishbones Kits: 59.40 ea
Top Mounts : 30.87 ea
Springs: 93.50 ea

Totals £590.08  10% off would get me £530.

Really don't know if I can stretch that far. :(

No second hand ones on CS? Or from J3ned?

Swervin_Mervin
21-02-2006, 18:48
No point doing 2nd hand really though eh? Might just do shocks and top mounts for now and then look at the rest as and when.

How about writing a guideline for coilover setting :?:
I've read from many people that you've done an excellent job with your Avo's
and I know for sure, that a lot of others will appreciate the help

lol.....not a lot to write tbh mate.

fitting is fairly straight forward.

set up is to individual tastes......

what i have mine set to maybe too hard for others, or too low, or too high etc ...

Jason
23-02-2006, 11:48
Well yes, set up is to individual tastes,
but for somone who's after handling, your's is an example.
Obviously you cant just write down your settings
and even if you did most wouldn't know what to do with that
What would be really helpful is to write down how to set it up...
in means of progress...
eg first you determin the hight or rebound ?
Would you suggest a major drop? don't think so
You set the rear's rebound same as the front?
....
...
..
.

basically.mines lowered about 10 mm at the front....none at the rear...which will be levelled up soon ish...lol

mine are only height and damper adj....so height was pretty straight forward, just take plenty measurements.

as for settings, iv played around with em a bit, and when used as evryday/family car i had it about 3 clicks from softest rear, about 1/2 adj on front.

now....its set to full hard all the way round.
