Ok thought my key was broke.. had it tested it is not.

My central locking is playing up.. some times it works via key some times it doesnt..
i have had the unit out and cleaned it there is no corrosion on it.

def not the key

no corrosion....

tried spare ir receiver and matching key it wouldnt work..

does the ir receiver have to be a phase 2 one? with phase 2 key...

its posing a problem as my car is delocked... i have a boot key.. but its embarassing climbing in through the boot. lol

some of the senders are matched with the codes in the ecu on phase 2's iirc

The design of the IR sender is completely different on the phase 3 to the phase 2's which is what i have found out. Phase 3 senders are NOT registered to the ECU but the circuit boards are completely different with different tracks and pin outs on the connector so you can't use em.

Best bet is to try your key and your sender in a phase 2 valver and see what happens. If it works in the other valver, try his sender and key in yours. Then you will know what the problem is.

jus disarmed the Renault piece of shit then took it for the alarm

it was done by my local Auto Electrics place, not many places i trust with my car so i didnt want some random coming out and doing it in the rain on my drive, its made by an Italian company called Gemini, works great

Take the reciver out of the roof and look for copper corosion on the pcb near the three ir recievers. If there is some (its blue) then use nail varnish remover or some aftershave with a cottom wool bud and get rid of it.

Plug it back in and it should work better.

you can disable the siren by using the little key in the keyhole next to the windscreen washer bottle, don't know how to disable the actual alarm tho

why did you go for a none battery back up model?

BRUN
13-03-2006, 10:38
cos its a lot cheaper and you still get the option to add a battery back up siren at a later date

battery back up siren = Cat1 = at least £80-£150 more than what i paid for mine
