Thats what i've been quoted discounted from Renault. Theres a £175 surcharge too. Unless you already have box out when you collect your new one.

yeah around the 600 quid mark for a recon box. labour is a bugger as its engine out jobby!

best put a grand to the side for it!

Drop the subframe, lot less hassle and the engine can stay in situ.

Gav
20-02-2006, 23:37
thats crazy!

u can get a engine transfer for cheaper than that

stew

mmm dunno about that!

depends where you go, and what quality of engine you are putting in!!

I put 250 all in aside for mine LTR special box changing technique lol...not a new box but hey I can go through a few of these and it'll still cost me less than a brand spanker..

Just get a 2nd hand box and learn how to swap it yourself. IMHO the recon units from Renault are a waste of time the one I put in mine was put together shite when I took it to bits after I broke it.

See ya

Why didn't you take it back then?
They have 12 months warranty on them.

I got it with the car it was more than 12 months old. I also broke the selector fork which when I asked is apparantly not covered by the warrenty.

See ya

Matt

personally idf go the recon from reno route.

its not much labour wise to change it, can be done in a few hours, without having to take the engine out.

the layshaft needed work....2nd 3rd and 4th gears were absolutely smashed to bits. so they needed making, as apparently u cant buy the gear sets any more.

there were a few other bits too but i cant remember what they were now lol.... box was ex craggy box so had been well and truly abused before i got it and finished it off lol.
