Has anyone ever removed a Williams 3 headlining and refitted it without tearing it or creasing it ???

Martin i know you did yours - but was it still in one piece ???

Matt - can you help ?

I removed all the plastics then just slowly pulled mine of in one piece.....Has really thick black gunk holding it on, also use a glove as the fibre glass, slide your hand under it and push it down.

It does look like its creasing when you pull it off.....but once it was flat mine was OK.

Its still out....... so you can have mine if you **** yours up

You would need to re glue it.

Northy, there's a logical explaination for this I'm assuming!?!? Tell me your not going stripped out as well!?!?

No. The car was booked intoday for the sunroof repairing.

But the specialist i took it too, didnt meet my high expectations. The guy didnt even ask me the basic question of where does it leak from. I gave the guy instructions not to mark the car in anyway and not to leave ANY dirty fingure prints on the headlining. To be honest - i didnt like the place mate. So he had a good talking to.

Anyway - left the car with him and a hour later he rang me up and said they wouldnt be able to remove the headlining without maybe damaging it. So i said leave it and i went to collect the car.

So im going to do it myself. Once the headlining is out its a simple job.....to remove and reseal the sunroof.

But i didnt know if anyone here has had any past experiance that may prove usefull to me.

I've done it mate. First off though, are you absolutely sure it's the roof seal and not the glass seal?

yes...100%

Iwas though mate and after sealing up the roof/frame and aerial it still leaked!

However, I only needed to slightly pull down the headlining to get to the bolts. I didn't unstick it though, I opted to crease it. However it has now gone back without marking.

well im going to remove it all...then remove and refit and then run it for a couple of weeks to ensure that its defo stopped leaking.

Should be able to find exactly where it leaks from with no headlining.

It's very difficult, but I think it can be done.. would take a while and you'd need to be mega careful.

There's no way you'll tear the headling if your carefull...I just ragged mine out and it took some serious abuse!

As Merv said, it can be done without removing the headlining but very fiddly.
And as Daz said it can be removed if your careful.
I have one you can practise on if you want?
Wouldn't matter if you ****ed it up.

What I found fella was that the black sticky stuff stayed stuck to the roof. Don't know if this is what others found.

I went to the scrappers yesterday and cut away the headlining to have a look at the sunroof. Its really simple to work with once the headlining is removed.

The one in the scrappers was leaking aswell...but on the frame to car there was no sealent....i was shocked. No wonder they leak.

The seal is only very thin fella on the roof/frame one. You can barely tell it's there!

Comes on a roll if I'm not mistaken.
