all ive got on mine at minute is a pipercross filter and to be honest i aint that impressed so far.

handling fair enough great... but at minute in a straight i'm scared of racing my mates 106gti!

just my mates 106gti is really quick

hitting like 105mph in 3rd

mine limiting in 3rd at 85-90 mph

maybe its cause the williams wis a smoother ride.

my mate was in it earlier with me because he wanted to see how good they actually are.

he appreciates its faster than a valver but not as much as he'd thought it would be with all the hype about these williams.

anyway after a good couple of hours driving round he came to the conclusion he wouldnt mind a race after all.

although he admits round the bends he wouldnt stand a chance he think0-60 he'd have me and 0-100 would be very close....

his 106 just has an air filter......

a std 106gti should never beat a std williams if both in good nic, firstly id lose the piperx filter! std box with panel filter, dont just do standing starts, do a few mid range runs and watch his go backwards!

they are quick cars dont get me wrong, but a williams esp 3rd gear on 'should' always win, as me mate use to tell me (he owned 2x 106gti's and a vts) that u had to keep them on the boil at all times for any power, were as the williams has alot of low down power and alot through each gear

i've been in his car at 140mph on a road i couldnt get my old valver past 130mph

they just never hit a flat spot

does 128mph in 4th gear before limiter....

thin is its noisey so that all adds to the effect of going fast i guess

my williams is quiet apart from the sucking filter.

you really think i'll beat him comfortably?

get rid of ur air filter and just see what happens, u SHOULD always be ahead, unless urs is shagged and his is tuned but hes not saying lol

there are quick gti's/vts's but as i said, get it down some nice back roads and into some tight twists and u should se the difference with the low down torque!

btw if u are going off the 'williams only does 0-60 in 7.7' pants remember the williams needs to be in 3rd to hit 60!

i think its more the whole "hype" of a williams and hes a little smug that his girly 106 is be close to the apparent "hot hatch of the 90's"

basically he's just really pleased with himself because he got in the car put him seatbelt on and i think he was expecting an absolute beast.

his car is standard apart from an air filter.

his workmate has a 182 and he practically kept with that on the m1 up a long hill which i personally witnessed as a passenger of the 106gti.

i really do think you all undrestimate those 106gti's

lol i'm really reluctant to race him the more i think about it i'd never live it down if i lost on a straight

i dont underestimate the 106 gti's, as said my mate had 2, been on both and both was quick, and i use to drive one of them as it use to be owned by my old work lol, id buy one myself but dont wanna go back to citroen/pug crap!

besides tell him the williams isnt about gay american straight line racing, get on some twistys and show him whos boss :wink:

hmmmmmm 106/saxos ..... some of em are quick.; the only 1 iv raced thats really given me probs is craggys old vts, used to be right at the side of me 0-1** just couldnt fukkin shake him.....

the missus has a 106 GTi with a stailess system, magnex decat and 4-2-1 manifold and its pretty quick, no i have a valver pushing about the same BHP (maybe alittle more but without the tourque) and i think i may just be able to beet her, she will tell u how quick they are compared to a willaims!!

but a decat and chip dont make a great deal of BHP tbh but it makes the ride a whole lot smoother which in the long run helps the car to greater performance, correct me if im wrong guys

good willy should and WILL beat a 106GTI from 3rd onwards in a straight line drag. obviously not accounting for the freakishly fast ones, but they happen with both cars. what speed he hits in 3rd doesn't matter, it's how quick it gets there, the williams is short geared with a wide and smooth powerband. unless you have cams, in which case all hell breaks lose (not to mention traction) about 4'500rpm...

when it was like this it used to eat willys for lunch off the lights but as it says above the vts and the gti are WANK on corners but but quick off the lights as there a lot lighter than the clio
