Very 'nippy' quick off the mark.

Energy engine is bullet proof.

Usual french shite engineering tho, oh and rust

get a good one there pretty tidy, more chance of finding a well looked after one than a valver as older people drive them.

Not slow for a 1.4 neither, RT is the spec with the extras i.e elec windows etc

i owned one b4 my 16v replica and i loved it, as said for wat they are there not slow.

Good car, good buy, good insurance, even if u replica it to a 16v or williams

from Parkers:

This efficient, economical and spacious supermini that led the market in the early 1990s. It looks a bit dated these days, but still offers its virtues of good interior space and serves up a driving experience that is above the average. There is an extensive selection of engines with three higher performance models culminating in the Clio Williams, which is one of the finest hot hatches ever built and still commands good money for a clean example. Baccara model is a mini limo with leather upholstery and wood veneer.

Tell him to buy mine mate, its on a genuine 48k, full renault service history and only 2 owners, the 1st being an old guy who kept it garaged all its life and me.

I have fitted white turbines and Williams front brakes, I also have got a set of Apex -35mm springs to fit to it.

Im after £1200 ono with 12months MOT and 6 months Tax.

It really is immaculate and not a single bit of rust anywhere and never had any bodywork done to it.

Has a sunroof, electric windows and sony HU

I will post up some pics tonight when I get home

although i say mine is slow as a tortoise its rather nippy... she does 70 in 3rd! which most corsa 1.4's cant do.... and easily beats a 1.4 corsa thru 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears to 70mph...

aint tried proper racin her to move than 70 against a corsa tho!

so i wud recommend one! :D

i had one for three years it was a phase 2 r reg. it was v slow and i didnt even see the point in ragging it. however plus points were; it never broke down on me, it was excellent on petrol and the interior i thought was much nicer than same value cars at the time. also mine came with elec pack and sunroof (which leaked) and again its competitors didnt. i really liked it and would recomend them

Justin..

what, the competitors sunroof didnt leak or never had one? lol

remember that the phase 3 1.4 is 5hp down on its phase 1/2 counterparts due to a crappy revised head port design. So add in the PAS and its only 70hp.Then again this also applies to earlier models with PAS.

I recommend getting a phase 3 though because although its 5hp down, the gearbox is alot shorter in every gear and it pulls far better than a phase 1 or 2. Also engine refinement in a phase 3 is far better, the energy engine can suffer from crappy idle problems and rough especially with a phase 1. Phase 3 manifold has the lambda at the top of the downpipe rather than next to the cat, this design tweak means the car runs much smoother from cold.

My advice having owned both a phase 1 and now a phase 3 maxim, get a phase 3 1.4 :)
