I want to get new speelines. If we can get a group buy together (20+)then we can get the price down to £150 each.

I want 4 so thats £600

Anyone else?

Remeber to knock £150 to £200 off that price as you will be able to sell your old alloys. So really it could be £450 for brand spankers.

I wish I had the money to spend, would love a set of spankers.

is there any further reductions available at greater quantities?

KingStromba

Doubt we will get more than 20, but perhaps at 40 there would be.

What about getting them from speedline directly, rather than through reno?

KingStromba
21-03-2005, 14:27
Dont know. Probably the same price, as Renault probably bought 1000's and these are stock items.

KingStromba
21-03-2005, 14:43
If we can get 20 + wheels i almost guarantee i could negotiate that price.

Enid
21-03-2005, 14:50
Well count me in, thats 8 already, any more for any more??

KingStromba
21-03-2005, 14:53

I'd consider it. As I'm in the throws of spending £250 to get a full refurb. Spit & polish can't garuntee a colour match and as i can't get the paint code, that's got to be the next best thing!!!

I thought about refurb, but they never look quite right.

So are these the same wheels as the Williams have then? (excuse my lack of knowledge here!). If they are the same, i would probably want just 1

Looked into this a while ago Rob, the max I could get on 4+ sets from my local dealership was 20% which basically makes it VAT free, I contacted Renault UK and they rang me back to say I would have to go through a dealership and said they would get one to ring me, Renault Liverpool rang me and again could only give a max of 20% discount. Speedline will not deal direct with the public on these wheels as apparently Reno have it in writing that these wheels can only be sold through them.

So your probably looking at around £750 for a set. The only thing being there not giving a massive discount on what could be some big bucks for them, I think Martin got near enough the same discount for buying one set.

I told both dealership's that if the price was say between £500 - £600 they could be in for a serious amount of business but they insisted they could only do 20%.

And the wheels would need to be made up, Reno Liverpool checked stock in France before he rang me and they only had 6 wheels in stock.

I only got 10% off...but it all adds up especially at £200+ a wheel!

Email i received from Speedline:

Hello Robert, thanks for your enquiry.
Unfortunately we cannot help with the supply of the original Renault Clio Williams wheels, as they were a wheel supplied to Renault under the terms of an exclusive original equipment supply contract. This type of contract effectively does not allow us to supply that product to anyone other than Renault themselves as the wheel design is technically their property and copyright. This type of supply contract is quite usual in original equipment manufacture, not only for wheels but most other parts of the car as well from their respective manufacturers.
Thanks for coming to us all the same, we are always pleased to have contact with end users, especially enthusiasts like yourselves.
If you feel that any of our aftermarket or motorsport products may also be of interest in a group buy, we'll be happy to consider that.
Feel free to contact me if you need any further clarification.
Kind regards
David Williams

Hi Rob,

I am interested in purchasing a set and was considering a group buy which is the reason why i asked Nick to get a price for 20, his is the best price i have recieved so far as the last set i bought cost £730 but the other thing that i am looking into is the Fact that Paul Mitchell said he could get them for £600 a set, maybe you could have a word with him?

Could you get the price down to £100 a set if pretty much the whole club wanted them?

J o n

yeah, saw your post on lio Sport about the refurb's Fred and it's too expensive mate. Pro Clean will do them at £35 a wheel and the finish is as good as from the factory. I'll need mine doing soon and no offense, but I'm not gonna pay £220, price is gonna have to come down a fair bit.

KingStromba
23-03-2005, 11:51
£35 a wheel?

Fancy a group discount effort there Jesus? Worth me driving across for that?

Enid
23-03-2005, 12:14
Where abouts is Pro Clean? If I cant get a good discount on a new set of wheels then it looks like my only other option is a refurb.

dannyt
23-03-2005, 13:07
It's in Prescott near Liverpool pal!

J o n
23-03-2005, 13:14
dot really know much about Pro Clean to be perfectly honest, but they did Jon's wheels and only charge £35 a wheel, but that's using the proper Reno paint code for the gold, they do the silver polished rim properly and the finish is fantastic after seeing Jon's. Think Monkey may have had his done there too, but not 100% sure.

I dont think you will find better or cheaper tho. Unless Fred want to do em for around a ton :D

Nah got mine done in Bury Jesus

I'm after getting mine refurbed also Jesus, sometime in April, so i would be interested in a group buy refurb! :D

Here is Proclean's website:

http://www.procleanalloys.co.uk

I rung em last week and they were looking at about £150 including re-fitting of the rubber.

Can't remeber how much I paid now Jesus was nearer to 200quid that 155 if I remember.

In my opinion I wouldn't use the place I used again, and I prolly wouldn't use Pro Clean either

KingStromba
23-03-2005, 16:01
I think the moral of the story is that as good as refurbed wheels get, they will never be close to the originals. :D

KingStromba
23-03-2005, 16:03
I have found a place who will do me touch up paint for the gold speedlines for £6.95 a bottle, so if anyone needs to borrow some for the fcs or wants a bottle (after seeing how it is on mine) i will get them some.

Irish Nut
23-03-2005, 16:18
£695 for a bottle!!

J o n
23-03-2005, 16:45
think i'll be getting mine done at Pro Clean when I can be arsed doing it, still need to spend money on mapping, then it's bumpers spraying... keeping the stone chips, testiment to the fact it gets driven.

Just been to Reno and bought an alloy wheel. Fed up trying to find a man who can get the colour match right. How hard can it be? :x
