Dog bones are 32 quid from renno with VAT or 55ish from Nick Hill for the uprated ones

If you have a vice you might find it easier.

Any reason why you asked if it's just started doing it?

I'm also going to get the 19 mount as well.

if its just started then that eliminates anything falling out of alignment and could point to new gearbox time.

i know 2lives started to show by poping out of 5th - but that could be down to the B&M.

Try the dogbone mount and if not speak to J3ned to get a new box ordered.

I've got the 19 mount on mine, made a little difference but not much, but that could be because the dog bone is gay?

Well I know the synchros are going on 2nd. I hope it's not going to die too soon. I wanted to give it a couple of months before I killed it proper.

you would need the car on ramps, and you need to lever the gearbox/engine forward to get the dogbone back in line.

This may not sort the popping out of second gear though....linkages/synchros may also be the case

Dont think so mate. The dog bon mount stops the forward and backward movements, it doesnt support the engines weight.

My suggestion would be Bent selector. We were always having this problem with the Clio Cup gearboxes. On stripping the boxes they all had the same problem, bent selector forks. They are made from a brass alloy, which when getting a pasting from first gear into second would bend slightly. Subsequently when changing into second gear the syncro ring would not go fully in and the detent balls in the locking gear would not fully click home, this then allowes the syncro to jump out of the locker and disengage the gear.

Is there no easy way to fix it then? Apart from box out?

reason i ask is because mine has started jumping out of second :x

Nick, so does this popping out occur when changing up in to 2nd or both up and down? Mine seems to be doing it only on downshift at higher revs, and only occasionally.
