You made a wise choice.

Jumping out of gear is the gearbox mounting or dog bone mount as its commonly known. Only £32 from Renault.

not a bad price that

they must be going down in ££££ cause i just picked up mine for £1250

and body work is mint.

just needs steering rack welding and taxing.

Don't think there going down in price, you pay your money you take your chance. If mine was for sale it would be up for 5k with little or no margin for negotiation.

Sometimes paople just want rid, don't know wat there worth, or selling it for bit more than offered on PX. Lots of scenarios really.

yeah i dont think the woman had much of a clue.

reckoned she'd been quoted £500 for a full new steering rack and she said it was unsafe to drive.

i've had 3 valvers with the infamous play in steering wheel. i felt a bit cruel not telling her it would only cost £5 to weld by garage down road from me.

oh well mine now lol

will have pics up tomorrow

got a couple i can put up in a second on another thread

Popping out of 5th can also be caused by wrongly adjusted linkage, had the same problem on mine, its probably worth getting a new dogbone mount anyway though as it makes a lot of difference.

Is this car from Renault Manchester originally? I know a car from Renault Manchester with a very similar plate

both of them sound a lot better than a new gear box so im hoping it is
thanks for the info and the welcome :D
ill be stickin around hopefully come to some of the meets

i was told the wheels are original by the salesman they are gold with silver edge

nope, im a customer

the 2 lads that run it though are really into there Mk1 Clio's and other early Renaults, so you get an enthusiast working on your car who knows all the little faults they have, rather than some work experience lad from college or some other random half wit mechanic who doesnt give a shit about your car just what time he finishes

2live, How much for a cambelt change? And do you need to drop the engine, or can you do it in situ?

northy
16-02-2006, 10:02
cambelts can be done in situ.

A camblet change is around £180 with labour from a garage.

Also get the idler wheels changed. A cambelt kit can be bought from renault @ £95.
