My car has stopped working, after turning off the imboliser and trying to turn the key it doesnt start,

The relay clicks however nothing happens, we have checked the voltage of the battery which is steady 12 v and tried to jump start it but nothing.

Just clicking.

Defo sounds like an imobiliser problem

Take the IR reciever out in the roof and make sure its not wet

try turning the immobiliser key in/under the glovebox a couple of times, or disconnect the battery for a few mins, worked on mine a while ago mate :)

hmm, could well be the starter motor

Could be, but its a git to get at, its on the back of the gearbox, try hitting it with a hammer to free it up.

If that fails and you think it is the starter motor then i ahve an RSi one you can ahve for £20

actually it sounds like the problem i had with mine last september because it wasn't started whilst i was on holiday. it wasn't earthing properly on the battery so all the leads and terminals were scrubbed clean and sorted, then we had to bump start it and it soon started. before that it was just clicking, with the occasional clunk. after that episode it's started everyday first touch

well ill leave it til morning.

We have just run it down the road and tried bump starting it and still nothing which suggests it not the starter.

So ill check the imboliser 2morro morning, clean all the connections and try again.

Lunner how much delivered?

find the relay thats doing all the clicking, get some wire and run it to the negative on the battery and to the earth on the relay. that will stop the clicking (should) if it doesnt start up check your fuses under the scuttle panel. i had same prob and it was both.

i just remembered that the imboliser is an after market one which is turned off with a blip thing

13-02-2006, 10:20
bump

Ive found the imboliser... however there is not information about it anywhere on the net.

Its a LaserLine 921v2

Now i dont want to start chopping wires as it could land me in more danger..

Anyone else suggest anything?

i thought my problem was with the immobiliser but it was nothing to do with it at all.
you dont have to cut any wires jus run one from the relay to the battery negative.
it will stop clicking, check the fuses under scuttle panel. mine kept popping at this point when ignition was turned on.
remove the earth and new fuse,
Vrrooooom we have life!! try it b4 paying for an alarm geezer!

Well i want it removed as ive got a sigma cat 1 alarm to get fitted at some point, plus its been a bit dodgy recently anyway.

I checked all the fuses under the scuttle panel and they are all fine.

right, the laserline imboliser has been fully removed and still nothing.

Which means its the starter motor, however why would bump starting not make it work?

The original renault imboliser is still there and still sort of active however the LED doesnt ever flash which is confusing. Where does this go to (got told the ECU) and how could it be sorted?

Im going to ring renault to see if they know of any common faults.

Please help

have you given the starter motor a few whacks with the hammer??

13-02-2006, 18:35
Not to sure what that would achieve tho :?

Im not fully sure where the thing is tbh, its getting dark out the back of mine too so not going to have much luck tonight.

Will try again 2morro

because the solenoid thing can get jammed and it might loosen it up, sometimes works

The soliniod int eh starter motor gets stuck when its on its way out, hence it doesn't turn, hitting it, or putting the car in gear and rocking it back and forth usually helps

13-02-2006, 19:51
tried the gear and rocking motion which did nowt.

Also bump starting did nowt

Its gay and french
