i got a £19 knob from renault for my valver because the numbers had worn off, ended up just swapping the top plastic inserts over as the original knob wouldn't budge. i tried mole grips, plairs, heating it up, twisting it, pulling it, everything and it wouldn't move, plus the knob itself was still in great condition so i took the easy way out :D
just pull/twist off on mine
the numbers on mine have come off hense the reason i am changing it but i thought coz i had a new one might as well change the whole thing rather than just the top bit... If i can't get it off are the top bits with the numbers on easy to change??

yes, thats what i did^ just carefully lever a small flat end screwdriver under it and it pops off :)

you'd think so by looking at them side by side, the new one was much duller like a matt black effect, i suppose it's because the original one has become shiny due to being caressed for 11 years  :)
Justin..

really? :o i might glue mine on with a new insert lol new dull one looks crap

honestly mate the new item is dull as ****, the original knob matches the steering wheel nicely as thats a bit shiny aswell
Justin..

thats what i mean it wont match bugger all lol
lets petition renault to sell the numbered insert for 50p!! 8)

lol
agreed on the top only bit, but i did have an idea to see if anyone could print out the numbers on a white sticky transfer and then just stick that on to the gear knob :)
what do you think??
ps i got the copy right on that idea
sounds a good idea mate! but doubt it would stay on that long!
Justin..

dunno if that would work tbh where its not flat it woulldnt stick properly if ya get me
hmmm supose you got a point there, mite be worth a try though to see if it could be done,
anyone got the means to try it ?
Justin..

a transfer would work.... but youd have to laquer over it or somthin to stop it rubbing off and even then it may not be permanent
yeah, a few coats of hard clear laquer could work.

soooooooo much easier to just buy a new knob and swap the insert over
however i wouldn't mind red numbers and line like on the early 19 16v's 8)
so whos gona try it then? :)

what the cheap ass way that will cost more cos you'll end up gettin a proper knob anyway you mean?
I got a knew knob n wen it came 2 gettin my one off it wudnt budge... someone told my they r glued on... we tried everything as well!
So i still got the borin standard one on there! :D
