Vague Steering

Ive got loads of play in the steering about inch each way (if you wiggle the steering wheel :oops: ) any idea's ? Been wondering if its anything to do with the steering rack ?

Could be, or track rod ends.

Get someone to give it a wiggle on full lock while you have a look

see my column thread a few threads down. can be a number of things inc. the rack, column or the uj's. a lot of people pointed me to the column - and it was. apparently you can feel it down in the footwell near the pedals. infinicar have a few in stock with no play - i called them yesterday but ended up with a newey from renault.

get it welded in the car, 20 min job, no time off the road n costs 30 quid and 9 times out of ten it is the column!! pop the bonnet and get a mate to turn lock to lock, watch the rack behind the exhaust manifold if the rack moves atall it could be that but like i said its usually the universal joint in the steering column n thats a piece of piss to fix!! 8)
