We had to have our old one put down on tuesday because the cancer had spread and the steroids weren't workin, next thing would've been organ failure so we decided that enough was enough for him, he was only 5 years old aswell, bastard cancer :x
So today we decided it just wasn't the same coming in and there was no dog there, so we went and picked up a 9 week old puppy, he's going to be a big one, already got big paws and chunky legs
He's called Ice :)

Dave - lol :P
Kelly - yeah he's certainly bigger than our last one was at this age, his ears are up aswell, and that doesn't normally happen till they're about 4 months old
fasterthanjesus - yeah its the best breed we've had so far, had boxers and an old english sheepdog in the past, the shepherd has been the most loyal and clever of them all.
Jamie - last one was called Zak mate.
Cliobabe - they told us the steroids would give him 6months of life left, he managed 2 weeks
It was the best thing for Zak to be honest, vet agreed with us that it was the right time to have him put down, because the next thing would've been organ failure and it wasn't fair to put him through that

i keep pestering my wife to let me get another alsatian. "elsa" was more than a pet, more like a sister.
we had to put her down, old age/back legs gone. its common for alsatian/german shepherds. (best to not let them suffer).
will post some pictures next week.
heres a picture in the mean time for all you cat lovers.

He looks really handsome! Love dogs [have an Irish staffie and staffie cross] very sorry to hear you lost your other boy so young- but I agree that a house without a dog just doesn't seem right. I hope you have a lots of fun filled years with this 'little' boy :D
mint dogs...had a few over the years. always loyal, and very clever. can be vicious when needed too if trained rite lol..
my uncle used to train em up in the army, after he left the dog handlers in the police, he could get em to do pretty much woteva he wanted, he got 2 of em to go nuts just at him sayin ' PAKIS' lol.......god help u if u were an asian anywhere near at the time like lol.
must admit at 1 point they were the only dog id have, but we got an english bull mastiff from a rescue centre a few years back now, our last dog, he was mint, 13 stone of pure unadulterated animal lol......placid as fuk until he saw dalmations or border collies etc, anything black n white, then hed try rippin em to bits.....got a bit of a handful if he wanted to go after em like lol.
good luck with the new pup mate....they so comical wen they that young lol...all paws n ears

we can't really tell at the moment, our last one was short haired. The new ones dad was long haired but the mum was short haired, we reckin he'll probably be long haired as on his chest and tops of his legs he's got longer hairs coming through :-k
Nice fella...we have'nt had a dog for years..come to think think of it since out last one jumped up and bit me on the face lol
Ahhh so that explains a few things then

it was world cup year (1982).
He's gorgeous mate, looks like a short haired one to me.
We had a long haired 10 week old one a few years ago and even at 10 weeks he looked just like a fluff ball and it was easy to tell them apart when we viewed the litter.
He lasted a fair few years but ended up riddeled with cancer too and died one night in his sleep :(
We have now got Ellie who is gorgeous and was 1year old last week and is a little devil.
10 Weeks old

very nice dog that smokey 8)
hope your right and ours is short haired, can't be doing with all the moulting
Thanks Scott, shes a little terror at the moment, just coming to the teenager stage at the moment and keeps trying to get her own way and if she dont she sulks in her bed lol
The moulting was a bit of a pain mate, but its soooo worth it.
When we went to get Ellie there was a long haired Rottie there which I fell in love with and wanted badly but its a trait in the genes and is frowned upon in the show ring which is such a shame as there gorgeous.
