im missing the heat shield that vents from the manifold. (sits behind the engine)

ive not really bothered with it due to the winter weather, is it really a necessity?

cheers

It's there to protect the brake lines and master cylinder from the heat of the exhaust manifold.

The shitty piece of tin foil that sits near the exhaust manifold Brun.

I need a new one, but I want a proper tin affair this time.

I also need one of these (have one on there but its a state) but as a student am not prepared to pay 80quid for one!

There was a bloke on RSC that was saying he was getting some made up from steel or something but never got back to me!

also there is one they sell on bbperformancetuning for the turbo conversion, thats £50, does any one know if this will fit ok with the normal setup?

Justin..
07-02-2006, 22:30
must do cos the turbo takes up more space

fasterthanjesus

its on its way. i did ask him to double check, as i thought 30 was too cheap.

if its the right one, i will get one for you.

Can someone make us one? I don't want to have to keep getting a new one.

Rich
10-02-2006, 13:42
you wont have to! remember most of them have been on 10+ years so just stop being tight and get one bought! :P

Swervin_Mervin

Mine's been on just over 1 yr fell off it's mounts and has now burnt through.

Not only that but many non clio owners have asked if I made it.

Ergo, for ease of getting at acc. cable/brake lines etc, and long lasting-ness I want a fabricated one.

Rajk

my mate didnt have one and on his valver his accelerator cable got hot melted and snapped, the tin foil shite ones are the old type heatshield the new ones are made out of a heat resistant plastic. I got mine from reno for about £30 make sure you get the heatproof bolts or they melt or corrode real bad, the bottom nut is a bugger to do up or withdraw.

Justin..
10-02-2006, 21:03
the heat sheild fornew clio fits old dya mean?

Rajk
10-02-2006, 21:10
no, basically they have revamped the heatshield as the old one was made of a three layer material which if moved alot or withdrawn would just crumple, the new one is like a rigid non flexable plastic.

Justin..
10-02-2006, 21:13
and this is for a valver and a ''new''?
what colour is it?

Rajk

its the one on the right, go to your local reno and ask for a heat shield they will supply the one on the right, £30 odd quid

Justin..
10-02-2006, 21:21
thats plastic :?: :!: :?: :!:

may have to get one

Swervin_Mervin
11-02-2006, 00:09
Doesn't look plastic to me. Looks like the old two pieces of foil stuck to some cardboard jobbie to me. Exactly like mine which I ripped off to get at the accelerator cable and now it won't stay on and has burnt through.

Rajk

11-02-2006, 16:29
i had mine mapped without the heat shield....after a 5 min cool down etc, went to take the car off the rollers.....fukkin acc cable had melted solid lol..

bought a new heat shield the week after for 40 ish quid.

Swervin_Mervin

the one on the right merv not the left

Yeah, that's like mine Raj. They're not plastic, they some sort of fibrous material sandwiched by a foil-like material.
