How much should I expect to pay to have a gearbox fitted? Unless someone wants to offer

Mines whining a bit and has started dropping a bit of oil.

Also do I buy a new box or refurb mine???

Cheers. :D

I got one from Renault - exchange item..

Mine whined for about two months.. then, *BANG* - two holes in it and a road covered in oil.

It was dropping bearings all over the place, haha.

I might be picking up a cheap willy as it needs a box and clutch.

How does the "Renault" way go then?? Might have a bash myself, lol

as 2 live says, £150 if the place dont like bumming you dry. garage I use in warrington do it for £150, but I'd take it to 2 live as he's more conscientious and will do a better job than a garage.

I was, in my youth. Left that toss hole a long time ago. Far too bitchy and full of inbreds, lol.

I still see Merv now and again though.

lol, funny you should say that, I only registered as I know Kel, Mehdi and Glen from there... 'most' are socially challenged posh scals (i'll say most, as some dont seem too bad). I dont get that site, they just personally insult people on there and cant think of an original put down between them that doesn't involve the word 'sars'...

you entering the unreliable world of Clio's then? i love em me!

Hoping to join the gang yeah. Goin looking at a willy tonight that is a bit rough around the edges, needs a box and clutch, 104k. But I think he will let it go cheap enough, so worth pestering him about.

Kel who used to see Tricky? I've known Kel for a while now, she is one of the old skool which is why I actually spoke to her. 90% of the nobbers on that site need their fingers smashed with a lump hammer. Bunch of Neds

Hi Pikie 8)

Glad to see you found your way on here, lots of knowledgeable normal people!

And as above - 2live replaced the gearbox on my Williams - did a good job too :)

one of my mates sold a Willy 2 a few months back that comes onto my road sometimes, wonder if it's that one as i'm sure that was for sale...

don't worry too much about the engine, make sure the body work is spot on first as most have had paint and is only a matter of time before tin rot comes through. engines shouldn't really give you any trouble with careful servicing and some luck. if you dont change the clutch and box yourself then speak to 2 live as he did Kel's old one (yup same Kel! :D ) and like I said is conscientious where your average garage isn't. Speaking of garages there is also Winston and Taylors place in Bury, they know their shit and again are both enthusiasts and are not looking to rip you off... which you dont really find these days (looking at my past bills confirms this... pmsl).

I know Tricky too, not seen him for a bit tho. He's cool too, but there are some right c***s on there, some of the threads are dreadful and borderline illegal half the time... surprised it's not been pulled down tbh.

He may still be in hiding for not paying me the 1500 he owes me still

Anyway - enough of that, don't need to get me started :P

Nah, it's a lad from Radcliffe. It's been in my mates garage for 3 months now.

Yeah, arches are pretty much shot on the back so gonna slap a new set on and give it a full paint all round, bring the old girl back to life. This is assuming he sells it me

Watch this space  After the Carroline Harrison thread, someones gonna be doing some serious porridge. Downloading child pron and allowing everyone on the net access to it at the click of a button.

I'll just go for a new box through J3neds contact. Do they need your old box then???

I'll be calling you in the near future then 2 live, sounds a very fair price and i'd rather someone do it who knows what there doing and someone I know.

Think it'll prob be easier to buy a shit box and keep mine to sell on as its not that bad, i'm just being picky.
