Had the weekend rag around some country lads.

Hastily jammed it into second and lifted the clutch a little early, crunched it a bit.

Now whenever im doing say 20+ MPH, and try to select 2nd it crucnches briefly and then goes in, and it doesnt always do it, othetimes it goes in easier than it did before.

Have a mashed the syncromesh? How much can i expect to pay to have it repaired? Can any of you guys do it? :P

All other gears are fine.

Unlucky fella. When it breaks it will cost you quite a bit, engine out job.

That picture looks horrible, its guna give me nightmares :P

If you drive the car normally then you wouldnt know there was a problem, its only when your driving slightly faster and try and force it in it makes the clunky noise.

Sounds like you hammered the synchro a bit ...mine lasted 5 months in that state.

Sounds like it might not be well, but id leave it till it destroys itself

I dropped the subframe and took the gearbox out the bottom alot easyer than taking the whole engine out took about 5 hours using a mates 2 post lift would take abit longer on the drive way

Im going to get a new box, but i wont fit it till this one nukes itself.

Ive just used my car for the first time in 2 weeks, (its been at a body shop and had a new sill put on).

I think its cured itself :?: Doesnt crunch when i put it into 2nd gear at speed anymore from what i can tell.

Best not say that tho, it'll probably nuke itself tommorow :P

Mine is an old box on 131k, and it doesn't crunch, althoguh 2nd gear was sounding a bit winey at cadwell

No worries, got a spare sat in the garden :D

Give up worrying about it. My 2nd has been crunching now for 8months.

It's not an engine out job to have a new 'box either. Also, don't bother changing it in a hurry, it's pointless IMO.

Wait 'til it starts to get really bad.

Every time I think I have a gearbox problem, a gearbox oil change seem to fix it. Try that first.

try pushing the clutch down when changing !!!

lol sorry what i mean is when you push pedal down hold for a split second and then try and put it in gear that should work also change the g/box oil also works well :)
