I've only had them on for a year and spotted this weekend a massive crack right through one, so looks like a nice new set will have to be forked out for and they have wheel bearing pressed in, so thats even more!!! Just what I need!

Just thought i'd let everyone know, so it is standard next or just grooved?

This reminds me. My rear disc(original) broke into 2 pieces when it was removed, some time ago. It was really bizzare. It looked fine before that. Never figured why it did that.

if u aint driving on the track with 4 pots drilled n grooved wont do much noticcable so standard are fine!

Dannyt,

Something just occurred to me. Do you do a fair bit of handbrake turns?

Purple, never mate, not done one in the valver!

The only thing i can think it being, is getting too hot after a bit of hard braking and because the holes are so near the edge it has caused a crack!!!!

No they are from k-tec, so going to ring them tomorrow and see if they can do anything for me! A year of light use shouldn't do that!

OK, scratch that as a possible cause. At least I got a good 4 years of use before it broke. But even at that, I would have never expected this kind of failure to happen to disc brakes (front or rear). Oh well, hope you can claim manufacturing defect for yours.

Drilled discs are renound for cracking around the holes, different rates of thermal expansion, would buy grooved discs but never drilled

Agree with lunner, drilled discs are well known for cracking and the benefit of them for cooling isnt upto much either

grooved discs or just standard are the best to have

drilled/grooved discs are shite........

they always crack/warp more than solid/vented varieties. i have grooved discs on the rear of mine, used cos i got them in a deal an i dint wanna fork out extra coin for new uns wen i already had some. they are pagid tho..they bin on about 2 1/2 years now...still fine...which has surprised me tbh.

danny u sure the rears not stickin on a bit?

sounds like you weren't trying hard enough Dan, real men crack them in at least 2 places so when you take them off they fall to dust
