What time should a valver be able to acheive for the 1/4 mile. What are the figures as standard??
Mines a healthy engine on 85k, with magnex exhaust, K&N ik, and yesterday was stripped slightly.
It was first time i'd done 1/4 miling and messed up my first run, then couldn't get decent enough starts/traction on the other two.
My best time was my 3rd/last run at 16.6secs @ 86.87mph but it reckon it would be able to do better. i managed to get lower times and more speed each time, just wondered what i should be aiming to get on a decent day. :-k

i got a 16.3 first time i've ever quarter miled....only ever done it once, and it bored me

Previous owner ran a 15.8 full fat with a cat on too

On an RSi btw

So you should be aiming for mid to low 15's?

thats the sort of figure was hoping for, was putting too much power on at the start, my 2nd start wasn't too bad and i pulled on a leon 1.8t until i got into third then he came by me

The best time i got in my standard Valver on my first time at the pod was:

Was a poor reaction time to so room for improvement.

^i was hoping for some at least like that, might have managed it if i could've got a few more runs in. too much p'ing about closing the track to clean shit up though so we left.

With the same mods as you, de-cat and standard gearbox I went 15.4-15.7 at York. Mainly 15.5s. Managed this in 30 degree temps aswell.

With the modified gearbox and a panel filter in the standard airbox i've managed a 15.07.

See ya

Reaction time makes no differnce to 1/4 mile time, it starts timing when you start moving

It was slippery at the pod though?
When i went i didnt have a problem with traction.

Previous owner ran a 15.8 full fat with a cat on too

That does sound a quick time for a rsi, you got the slip? bog standard williams get low 15's

hmm :-k think i need to practice my starts and make quicker gearchanges.
what sort of revs are good for setting off on a decent warmish day??

No, but he said thats the time he ran, and i believe him :D

He had 14" std alloys on with fat tyres, i ahve low profile tyres that are pumped up quite hard for cornering

I would hope to be in the 15's if i ran. Ive ran a 15.6 and a 15.8 with a g-tech but at pod id imagine it would be slower cuz nobody seems to get traction at the start.

whats york like for traction? i know the conditons didn't help pod but is york any better? is the timing reliable up there? never been there before

Lunner

Pod will be quicker, traction is better than on the road as they put glue on the strip

It wasnt yestereday mate. I reckon they should put that anti skid stuff at the start. The stuff they use at traffic lights lol. Traction wouldnt be a problem then :P

Thats where a launch from when messing with my G-Tech, shreads the tyres tho :(

Traction on a drag strip is only good on slicks. You get more traction on the return road at York than on the track.

I hammer the gearbox when i'm racing, and I was breaking one a meeting as I was slamming it into gear without lifting off the accelerator and clutchless gearchanging.

I don't understand why people moan about reaction times at pod, the time doesn't start until you start moving..... reaction time doesn't equate to anything on your final time, all the RTOC boys wait for ages after the green light and set off in their own time.

true^
otherwise my first run would have been very slow, had an 8 second reaction time   due to a mix up over the lights, they went from one small orange one at the top then straight to green then back to orange at the top, so i just waited lol. then the people shouted go so i just floored it and it span through 1st and into 2nd  meanwhile dave was busy stalling it  :D

lol, a lot of people didn't know where to get them from, you just had to go to the signing on office and tell them your reg. i didn't get to see many runs at all, spent most of the time queing up. try watching the vid near the top of this page on cs though http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=118423&page=5
you might see yours in there somewhere, mines right near the end on the second to last run against the leon.
