I think seeing as we all can not have a constructive conversation. Everyone rightly or wrong gets too passionate about there respective cars so i think the mods are correct to delete the thread and we should all enjoy driving them......and not start any more vs threads.

I feel I am in a worthy position to shut Evohewishes.
I bought a 1.8 16v on 130k miles a cpl of years ago and within a month I had bought a Williams engine/box & ecu on 52k miles and sent both to GDi for the work to be carried out.
I got it back from Andy and within 2 months I had bought a Ph1 172 on 62k miles and wanted to keep the Willified Hybrid as a weekend car.
Williams only had a Magnex Cat back system and 172 had exactly the same pus a viper i/k. The Williams would and did many times rape the Ph1 172…………….. FACT
While still owning both the Willified Valver and the Ph1 172 I decided to treat myself and also buy a 04 CUP’d 182.
The 182 was 100% standard (at 1st) and in its standard form it too would Rape the Ph1 172 and would struggle to keep up with the lighter more nimble Hybrid…….FACT
The 182 then got a Viper I/K and the Hybrid got a semi closed i/k and the Hybrid responded even better to the breathing mods and would leave the 182 by quite a margin………FACT
We even got a blast with all 3 cars and this is the order they came home:
1: Hybrid
2: 182
3: 172…………………FACT
Now….you can spurt figures you have read in your ‘Marie Claire’ all day long, once you have been in the same position as me you will then qualify to have an opinion….but until then I think it will be best if you STFU.
I have since sold the 182 & 172 (partly to fund my business & house renovation) but also so I can spend some more money on the Hybrid and make it that wee bit ‘more’ special……..
Just to Clarify for you numpties once again
172 & 1.8 16v are almost equal………… both take an age to come on cam and when they do its good………..172 just has the edge.
182 & Williams are almost equal……….. both come on cam almost instantly and its great…….Williams/Hybrid just has the edge.

In the 3 years of Hybrid ownership it has never broken down on me, however within 6 months of owning the 182 it needed a new rear shock, the 4k rattle sorted and the suspension knocking sorted.

My 172 was quicker than my mates now ditched Cup (we swapped cars to make sure - a massive 3 car lengths from 30 to 100 :oops: ) although his was run in according to the manual and mine...er.... wasn't lol
I've eaten valvers for breakfast ( although not till over 80 ish mind - they're still nippy buggers) but not had the chance to have a blast against a Williams. Point I'm trying to make is, as things stand there is NO definitive answer.

fair point lagerlout, I think the thing with the MK1 vs MK2 weekend was all the people that went had a point to prove and ultimately wanted bragging rights, but sadly for them it was the MK1's day that day. I know what you mean though, believe it or not I do have more respect for the cars than I make out, it's just funny on CS as they all take the bait... best when the people that always say "i never come on these threads because..." then post some lame reply anyway.

I fully understand where your coming from Mr Lout, there are always gonna be good ones and bad ones from each Clio variant.
My statement however is from a personal 100% unbiased experience and I posted the facts as I found them rather then get them out of some Magazine.
I loved all of them and I had the choice to either sell the 172 or the Hybrid.... both worth approx £3.5k....The Hybrid won hands down for performance, handling, looks and the grin factor, the only thing the 172 had in its favour was A/C imho.
So I sold the 172 for £4100 and spent another £1500+ on the Hybrid :twisted:
why we bringing the shite from cs to here?
