View Full Version : RSi Tuning
Currently got:
Green Cotton Induction Kit
Full Magnex Exhaust
Decat
What other things can i do to increase performance?
I would like the rev limit increased as 6k is boring...
Lunner's the RSi man, im sure he can help you with this
Rev limit on an RSi is around 6500rpm, no point in an increesed limit as peak power on mine is at 6k.
Headwork, cam, all relaicly cheap compared to the 16v as there is half of everything.
£300-£400 for headwork(ish), and iirc £300ish for and vernier pully
Can get good gains by modding the exhaust manifold
Stripping ti will see noticable gains for no money
Yeah it was loads quicker stripped,
so a decent 4-2-1 Manifold would be good...
improvements to the inlet?
What about NOS?
No, clean teh welds up on teh std one, iirc 4-1 is better than a 4-2-1.
No where does RSi manifolds so unless you want a custom job, a replacement is outa the question
hmm, clean as in reweld?
have you ever 1/4 miled your RSi lunner?
i need a comparison
Take the manifold off and look blocvk end inside at the welds, they are really shitty, just grind them down abit, but not too much.
i ran 16.3 first time i ever did it, previous owner ran 15.8 full fat and with cat on
fook, got some improvment to do then

Can see teh welds here....yes i know photo is only half uploaded, uploaded is playing up

What did you run?
Felt well shite after running a 16.3 after the 15.8 lol
16.8, track was slow tho.
Can probs go quicker and more to your time once lowered etc..
I'm tempted to actuakly quarter mile again, evebn tho its shite, might go to my local quarter miling strip, 10 mins up the road

wheres that???? or is it just a public road that happens to be 1/4mile long?? :-$
Shakesphere County Raceway
Anyone run NOS before?
Well tempted for the shear cheapness
Its shite, whats the point, its expensive to run, and it only lasts for a few seconds
Surely last for longer than that....
Surely nothing else will give you an extra 50bhp for around £300 (second hand kit)
You not seen the fast and the furioius lol
Depends what size shot you use, lasts for a minute at most, and NOS can't be cheap

Would it not be as easy just to buy a Volvo 440 turbo and drop everything in, then up the boost a bit?
See ya
Matt
yes it would, BUT i dragged agaisnt Malice's Turboed clio, with the same volvo engine in it, and by the end of 3rd he was only about 1.5 car lengths ahead, so not massivly faster, and i was one up....think i scared her tbh
lol @ Fast n Furious. Theres last for ages and they press it loads, i want that
Cant be arsed with engine transplants, another option could be to use the 440 engine parts and make a 1.8 turbo although not to sure whats envolved
Was having a discussion ages ago, from what i can remember can run a low comp turbo, by getting the turbo, inlet manifold etc, can drop teh compression ratio by stick a fat head gasket in there, can't run much pressure tho, and so isn't massivly faster
hmm, seems a bit pap does the RSi engine :(
Rip the PAS out...extra horses there...exactly the same methods as doing so for a 16v...

power assisted steering?
Rip the PAS out...extra horses there...exactly the same methods as doing so for a 16v...
Yes power stearing, gain about 5bhp
How would that increase power?
I kinda like girl steering
wimp......means engine isn;'t having the drive the PAS pump, so has more power through to the wheels
lol, aye!!!!
Its an idea, you looking to do anything else to yours lunner?
wimp......
LOL!
Canna wait to get mine done now.. :P
