I'm assuming you mean a mk2 clio engine as the clio is a mk1 ph2.
if so yes you ould have wiring heaven to contend with to get the rev counter ect working as its all leccy on the mk 2's, wiring loom is different too.
you r best off just getting a like for like engine or getting a 1.4 energy engine and ECU as the loom is the same

depends which 1.2 you mean ? As the 1.2 8v used in the mk2's is the same DIET engine that was used in the mk1 ph3's. could nick one of them from somewhere

as said mate, get a 1.4 rt engine from a mk1 clio and slap it in

too many electrics n hassle if u r going to put a mk2 engine in

WTF i get over 300 from my 16v and most of that is spirited driving, TBH you'd be better off dropping in the same engine thats in there.

im pretty sure rich mentioned valvers hold another tenners worth of fuel, but i still think 200miles to tank on mine is really bad

Put a 1.4 RT in there...it looks identical to your current engine so no need to tell insurance.

Your likely getting only 200 per tank as your pushing it hard to keep up more powerful cars...putting a 1.4 in there means it won't need to work as hard to go the same speed so you'll get more mpg.
