How far does your brake pedal down before the brakes start to bite?

I've just had the system refilled with new fluid and bled to try and stiffen the pedal up, but it still goes down between a quarter and a third of it's length of travel before I feel any resistance.

Is this normal or is there something wrong?

Cheers

How worn are your pads. TBH it's probably normal. Always shits me up when I've been driving a newer car. :P

Pads are more or less brand new, about 1k.

Probably is fine, stops well enough-ish, but I just wanted to see what everybody elses was like.

I think they're reknowned for being a bit pap. There's b=very little assistance on them.

That's a good thing though. I always go through the screen when driving a new car. :x

I'm probably being over-cautious now that I have the Williams engine in, tbh.

I show mine no sympathy at all. Still on my DS2500s that have been on since summer '04, about 12k miles ago.

Mine have started doing this ever since they are acting up but I hammered them on track without any issue but get back in the dci and I know what i miss the pedals always been right at the top of the travel.

Try bleeding them may help a bit

is it spoungy ??? if so thats why air lock clios are a bitch to get air locks out of i find my fluid need changing every 5k-8k as the exhaust is right next to the resivoire and boils it quickly which is not good

I've bled them mate, no air in them whatsoever.

They don't feel spongy, it's just the pedal travel until they bite that I was wondering about.

The master cylinder was new last year after the old one died in a big way.

Doubt it is a Renault one though as the job was done by my local garage.

How do I go about re-setting the rod?

Cheers
