Lead to the car overfueling?

My engine is always "over cool", because the thermostat is stuck, the water temp gauge only ever starts rising when you leave it idling.

Because its always cold does the ECU think the car is cold and stick more fuel in it? Im not really sure how it works, or if im talking BS.

Cheers.

Can someone confirm that lots of petrol usage can be related to a dodgy thermostat?

I'd be interested in knowing too, my thermostat is getting changed on Friday, I've got 160 miles out of 30quid this week!

Lol, now the new one is in the car heats up nicely, i have noticed oil temperautre sits at about 100 degrees now.

Used to only get upto about 60 max before.

Just topped her upto half a tank, lets see how many miles i can get out of her now.

i changed mine today because the temp kept fluctuating between 1/3 and 2/3 in 1 minute intervals when warm and driving at a steady speed.

no improvement....still does it! grrrrr

any suggestions?

It warms up ok, fan kicks in when it should, oil temp is fine......

Took my car for a rag this afternoon, petrol usage looks ALOT better. Barely used any.

But then again i always seem to go to my car in the morning and it never seems to have as much petrol in it as it did the night before :P

mines very similar to this mate with a brand new Renault stat, apparently its normal

i drive on the motorway every day and at a steady speed on there thats what it does, gets up to 2/3 then drops to 1/3 etc etc

kind of settles eventually at 1/2 way but it never settles completely just takes longer to go up to 2/3 mark, my cooling system is very clean aswell and the radiator isnt that old, apart from the heater matrix im spot on in that dept
