You have to unbolt all of the dash and pull it away from the bulkhead slightly.
I did have a little guide, will see if i can find it.

Here you go.

1 remove the wipers
2 remove the wiper likages
3 undo the heater blower securing bolts as these hold in the air distribution unit and take of the steering wheel
4 inside the car remove the top facia panel
5 remove the securing clips (there are 3 on a clio rt)
6 remove the radio cassette housing and centre console
7 undo the 5 securing bolts 2 @ each end of the dash and one behing the centre console
8 pull the dash forward enough so that the air distribution unit can be moved
9 diconnect the hoses for the engine bay that connect to the heater matrix
10 unclip the matrix and slide the new one in (with a bit of a struggle)
11 refit everything and fill up the car with coolant.
should now work a treat.

does it matter what make of matrix is fitted to the vehicle ?

mine is marked BEHR, but if its the same and will fit id rather fit something made by Valeo

I bought mine from BBPT and iirc its a valeo one

Did mine last year and took me about 1 1/2 hrs, just pull the dash forwards and slip your arm up behind it.
I found it relatively easy as I have small hands and arms, they were cut & grazed to **** after

valeo and behr are interchangable and valeo tend to be better cos the angle of the pipes makes bleeding easier.
