Yes definatley.

And in recent months since the 182 has come out there is now snobbery against MK1 172 owners.

Yes and No

There are less Mk1 owners these days. because there getting old lol.....crash a 182 and there replacable/repairable. so just more new shape owners on cliosport.

There do seem to be people on there who arnt intrested in anything but the newer clios but i guess thats their choice!!!

Mk 1's are much much better tho!!!

I think Cliosport does cater more for the mk2 172/182 but thats probably because there are more of them. Still enjoy being a member of cliosport though.

Yes, the mk 2 and mk 3 in particular are the new novas. Im sorry to say that cliosport is going downhill.
The sheer range of chav equipment availiable forthe mk 3 clio is a joke.... where i live every other car isee is a chav mk3....or a chavvy corsa...

Mk1 all the way...

And of course there are no chavved up mk1's....

Have to say your right, it does appeared to be geared up towards the newer Clio's but I think it's more to do with sheer numbers rather than by design. You've only got to look at the members list to see that there are probably ten times more mk2 172 owners than mk1 owners. And that's without counting all the 1.2 16v's.

Mark 2 schmark 2.

When Renault stop paying the mags for 182 space and praise, the truth will start to feed out.

It isnt as good as they say. Ive seen a few track specialists saying they were disapointed with it. Lets face it it lapped slower than the Cupra R in a few tests and that is a tank.

have u seen the deprecation on the new 182s theres one in my auto trader for 9,500 less than a year old says it all really mk1 is king

Apart from the Williams (of course) every other Clio is/was just as bad for depreciation.

I wonder how much Renault paid Evo for the Williams review?

They no longer marketed the car so didnt have to.

Its how much i paid evo that counts

I test drove a 182 and ahve to say I was very impressed, handled very well and had bags full of front end grip, not sure how well it would do on the track but on the road its a very competent machine. It did seem to lack the character of the Williams in my opinion. In the williams everything seems more raw and mechanical if that makes sense.

Also used to own a 172 cup (wrote it off like most of the others :( ) which was very different from the 182, again more raw and seemed to be a little more focused, much closer to the spirit of the Williams.

Your diesel box was quicker than a valver box?

J o n

once going yeah, would murder it. 3rd gear ranged from 15mph to 100+mph.

when I first had a do against Northy with the old box on the way to york I had a decat, backbox and K&N panel, but had a passenger and he was on his own... not only that but a blow in the center section and at the decat. I instantly pulled a car length at 70mph in 3rd and then held that til 4th, where he pulled that back and then ended up a car in front of me... then it came on cam and it was kinda game over from there as 110+ in 4th is when it starts to get going again. Would easily do 140mph in 4th, it was just over on the speedo... 5th just goes WELL off the clock.

I'd say it's quicker upto 60 now and drives a lot better, as it behaved exactly the same way as a valver before and was as quick as Wayne's to 60, but 70+ it would pish on him and the gap would get to about 6-8 cars by 100.

flippen heck thats a big gap jebus, i was having a do with martin the other day after he'd been to hill power and to about 110 he only pulled roughly 3 cars on me!!!

That new box and stuff must have improved things!! :)

Rob, 1st was really long, about 40mph, 2nd was 65ish, 3rd was 100+, 4th was 140+, 5th was off the clock at 155mph... at a guess an indicated 165-170mph, no shit too, although to pull in 5th it would need a little hill to keep it going.

well when I had a go against Wayne with the new box it was pretty close from rolling in 3rd with me pulling a car immediately, but as it got to faster speeds I was leaving him. prolly about 1 and a half to 2 car lengths per gear. not had a standing start yet or 2nd gear rolling. new box is deffo better m8, but no where near as savage on the motorway, 3rd gear was just awesome. in fairness to Wayne when we did the run that was after I had broke the box and stripped 2nd gear to a round cog, so it got absolutely murdered on the changes, Wayne's a little less fierce than me on changes.
