Mine went to around 120 - 130 over 10 miles. Does this seem to high? and if so whats wrong?
Thanks
seems a bit high... mine gets to about 110-115 after a full thrash. what oil are you using ?

15 - 40 comma oil.
mines always done that, had it 3 years and it's done 135k, still going strong
bit high IMO!
Id use 10-40 or 5-40 fully syth oil as well.
Reminds me i need an oil change b4 pod.
mine rarely goes over 100, running silkoline pro-s 5-40
and i thrash it everywhere!
burns lots of it tho!

What was your driving like over the 10miles. If it's heavy trackwork and redlining all the time, I think 120C is OK. But 120C might be a bit high if it's high-speed cruising with revs less than 4.5k rpm. As for 130C, I have never seen that, but am not that heavy on the throttle nowadays.

i saw 140 on my way up to winstons before xmas
while your on it,what does your oil pressure gauge say after a good thrash when idling?mine is just under 1 bar, which i think is low.

mines like that, at most the first little line under 1 bar

Oil pressure is brill.
Not checked but it didnt drop below 1 bar afaik.
that seems track temps almost, although a friend of mine said his valver was going to 110-120 on motorway runs so he bought an oil cooler. it now sits at 60 on m-way and on track he only got to 100/110 @ most

Dunno what all the fuss is about tbh. If you never had a temp guage you would never even think about it or even question it :? After a good blast down the motorway you can expect the temp guage to move up a notch, and then when idling the pressure to be below 1bar as you have just thinned the oil out a tad more than normall :)
If your getting high temps, would be worth doing a oil change and using some quality oil.
Should make a difference.

The fact is, for those people not getting high temps. You are not driving your car properly
nah, its using shit oil
im on Silkolene Pro S 5W-40 and even driving from Scotland to St Helens (about 250 miles on the motorway) mine never went above 110

Well that seems normall imo^^ I only get higher than that when doin 120+ for a while, not that i ever do that

ooh that'll be me lol!
Used to run 90-100 on m/way and anything upto 115 when booting it.
With the oil cooler I only get upto 110 on track! Normal m/way is about 70 which is perfect.
Whole kits probably cost about 150ish and Nick Hill had it fitted inside a couple of hours.....

Found out the engine oil temp was more because the coolant was low (car did NOT overheat) Must have opened the valve when it got to a certain temp meaning that the coolant from bottle was used as I had just filled coolant up after the engine flush.
Not gone above 90 now.

Havent really looked at it when booting, dont think mine gets above 100.
On the motorway it sits at 60 all day long.
Mine didn't ever go above 100 at the Donington track day. Not sure what oil was in it then, but I'm hoping the oil that's in there now will do as good a job...

 Why was mine running so hot? :? Might have to invest in an oilcooler...

christ on a bike, thats HOT !
what was in there, and if you havent changed it already, then i would
once it gets to about 150 ish IIRC it will start to break down, less if its a mineral or semi
Don't look right, Martin. The oil pressure is too low at, presumably, high revs. Probably starting to lose oil viscosity at that point in time. I would be looking to fix the root cause rather than dropping in an oil cooler.
this is after an hour doing 80mph+ and numerous thrashings when we hit roundabouts on the way to cambs!
only prob is it takes about 20 mins to warm up! painfully slow!

Starts to break down from above 110 but 150 is stupid high!

haha nice one martin, get that oil changed lad
After numerous thrashings round oulton and donny my oil didn't get abpve 110 at all.
Think the Willys have oil coolers though so id imagine that will be a factor.

By the looks of the speed and where he is on the track, he's slowing down, so pressure doesn't seem to bad. Buy yeah, that temperature is high

My temp used to be that high 'til I had my new cooling system.
