Hiya, I've been told that the diff is on it's way out and am therefore after a gearbox for my valver. Does anyone have one they would like to sell at a nice price pls?
Also, if anyone could recommend any good/cheap places in the northwest that could fit it for me that would be good too.

I'm trying to sell her you see so there's not much point spending a fortune on a new one....Thanks alot, PK.

LOL! I can't do that......anyway the whining noise is too obvious, even louder after the run out last night.

speak to Mehdi, he knows a breakers in Warrington that will also change it for you pretty cheap. I'll be getting my valvers clutch done there shortly, but dont have the places details yet.

Those prices are ****ing WELL cheap compared to what Reno wanted from me!!! £800+VAT for a new exchange box!?!?!? :?

Not that it matters, cos it's reet now, but if you need a box to temporarly replace that one with Paul I have a spare one sitting on the floor in my cellar. JC5, unsure on exact gear set tho... may even have a look actually. Matt, it's the diesel box that will do 100ish mph at 6'500rpm??? That right, or am I talking arse?

Riverside quoted me £450 for an exchange box and another £400 to fit it so sounds about right IMO. Going secondhand TBH as I'm trying to sell her, as long as I get a low mielage one I should be ok. Prices are between £100 and £200 for a JB3.

The diesel box has a higher final drive than the Willy or 16v box . Cant remember exactly , but I think its around 3.9:1.

Most diesel boxes would kill acceleration on a petrol car.

Most diesel boxes would kill acceleration on a petrol car. - it does, but not as bad as you think, behaves like a valver in terms of 0-60 being about dead even, then at 70mph it just takes off. lol

Whats the final drive on it? My new box has a 4.22:1 which compares well to the Willy 4.08:1.

Should be a fair bit quicker through the gears , but will obviously sacrifice top-end a fair bit.

Yet to road test it though.
