just been looking round for a decent quote as iv just turned 20 and only have 1 years ncb iv been quoted £1400 fc through admrill, but iv heared HIC are quire cheep had a look at there web page, and if you look in there target market ul see that they class some 10 year old cars as a future classic, just wondered if anyone has tried insuring there williams as a future clasic and if so what was the outcome? any cheeper???

Don't think you can insure a Williams as a classic mate, I think it has to have been manufactured on or before 1975 or something like that. Never heard of 'future classic' insurance, how can they judge a car to be a future classic??

Have you tried Adrian Flux mate they specialise in insuring young people with fast motors, and there's Tescos & Privilege to try??

Some will insure anything over 10yrs as a classic, but a lot depends on your mileage. Do over a certain amount and they won't do it.

Put as many adults as poss on your policy as named drivers. I'm nearly 27 and I saved a couple of hundred putting my mum and dad on.

Don't do that mate cos you won't build up any no claims so when you get to finally insure the car in your own name it will cost the same amount as them quotes you've bin getting. The wise option is to buy a cr@p car and run about in it until you've built up a few no claims and are a bit older, otherwise you'll ave to bite the bullet and pay ridiculous money mate. Don't know why the insurance group is so high on the willy @ 17?? Up to u mate

Get a standard Williams. That way you save 500 quid straight off. Mods are gash anyway.

I payed £700 tpft for my first performance car with no no claims bonus, no popints and 5 years driving experience. I generally have a rule, that if the car is worth less than a few grand i only get tpft. When i first got my second williams i was insured tpft, i only swappped to fully comp when i perceived the value of the car was increased substantially.

Id worry more about condition. If you payed 3.5k you may get a lower mileage one. But you can get the price down on this because of the mileage. Use the other grand to sort the car out.

You could try either of these 2 companies for insurance .

Keith Michaels 0870 8453333 . Nearly all our customers insure their high performance cars through these.

Graham Sykes 0845 1300231 . Very good for heavily modified cars and one of the only insurers left who will insure road cars with roll cages.
