what can be done to rectify the matter. I've had some suggestions about cleaning fluids to add to my fuel and things.

Are there any other things that can be done, want to get good spectrum of ideas :)

they just do tick mate, i dont think you can stop it

Anders

you can't stop it. They are electrically controlled and the tick is the injector spraying fuel into your cylinders.

Only way you can stop it is to turn off your engine, but then you won't get very far.

Either that or something the aux belt it catching on etc

depends on what sort of ticking it is... their's usual tappety noise you get, then there's the chirpy ticking sound I get due to aux pulley bearings on their way out... actually it's a Reno, so their will be more! lol

kinda metallic sounding, fades a little on warming, but still there. The engine sounds a bit rattley because of it, so i want to try to sort it sooner rather than later.

It's just come back from the garage who said it wasnt anything to be worried about, and i trust them.

Put some Injector Cleaner in with my fuel today, will see if that helps as it was suggested it might.

IMO injected "cleaner" does fook all for the injector noise...but is a good idea every so often to keep them clean!

I think ive got a collapsed/sticking tappet....will hopefully soon be rectified when i get my cams and headwork!

refurb them retro renault style...or fork out 200 quid for new ones. :(

Running better oil tends to quieten them down.....mine are bad at the moment..sounds like a fiesta!

try wynns top end treatment £12

Top end treatment.....whats it do?

I used the injector cleaner....which worked nicely.

I used both. Injector cleaner shifted a huge clump of crap which buggered the injector for a while. :?

I've used the Wynns to very good effect though.

Is it worth a try then that Wynns top end treatment?

Whats it supposed to be for, benifits etc?

Any good auto-sales shop!

I used the forte' top end treatment. IMHO it did fook all! And cost me 18 quid IIRC!

Do a decent oil change before buying any additives!

whats refurbing involve?

Look over at Retro Renault. Its in the tech knoledge base!

It involves taking them out, apart and giving them a rate good clean with some fresh oil, before repriming them and refitiing.

Its a cams out job though!

tappets are regularly going on ebay for £60, not to hard to change over, but the cams might be worn aswell so have to check them out.
