I had one from new on a 'H' plate.....bit of a barge, nice engine 150BHP if I remember rightly. I have never driven a Valver but my Williams would beat the Cav in every dept...except carrying passengers and luggage...Hence the Taxi quotes.....Bit cruel, as the engine is better than the sum of all it's parts

wouldn't piss on one if it was on fire springs instantly to mind... thought about a Mondeo or Rover 820? lol

Same as everything...try before you buy. Have a drive in your mates, and if you like it, buy it. And ignore the "only Cavs buy Cavaliers comments"

Don't expect it to cost you less than the Clio to run though. It's still an old car that will have been driven quite hard.

why bother with a cav? if you've reached that stage in your life you may as well embrace it and buy a volvo estate ;) hehe

if you buy a cav its gotta be the 2.5 v6

my dad loves em, pretty quick if i remember right?

but a cav 2000 or a valver?

not a hard decision, do a comparison list if ur not sure?

 Um i owned a modded gsi - 57i ,full stainless, courtney gp N chip, lowered , 17s etc . And to be honest it was a good motor .The last time it was rolling roaded it had iirc 145bhp@wheels i sold it with 135k on the clock and it was still going strong at a 165k BUT i would still have my willy any day!!!!!!!!
If its cheap enough its not a bad bet!I expexct its rear arches will be as good as a clios as well!!!!!!!!

GSi 2000 is just as quick as the 2.5 V6 and no where near as thirsty on fuel!

LOL @ the comments

only reason im interested is because its cheap.... im fed up of the valver now, plus it would only be a stop gap anyway.

cheers

im a bit of a vaux fan cos my mk3 astra works van has a 2.016v red top init an a lot of my mates like a good vaux engine
theyve got 150hp an 150ft lbs torque standard which is more than a valver but not the same powerband
id rather hav a valver than a cav gsi anyday but there still good cars an i wudnt not hav a cav cos there brilliant cars
