Magnex Owners...

Now my magnex is getting on a bit now but it just seems SOOOOOO much louder than it use too, it was always quite a deep abrupt thob but i use to run a silenced De-Cat and a Green replacement element and it was just about bearable! :wink:

Now with just the exhaust and even a paper filter between 3-5.5K RPM its just fooking LOUD! :roll:


Does anyone else have similar issues?

Have you checked to see if the exhaust is blowing or not? could find its blowing thus making it louder.

I have run a full magnex with non-silenced de-cat for about 3 years now and it hasn't given me any problems at all.

As the previous guy said check for obvious leaks or listen for loose/broken baffles.

mine gives a nice burble at low revs or when under load (i.e. just flooring it instead of changing down) but at high revs it does get quite loud, its perfectly bearable though and i don't plan on changing it anytime soon :twisted:

mines is loud too, the hillpower i/k doesnt help though, lol.

Cheers guys, need to check the Cat-Downpipe joint as it use to be a bit iffy on metal gaskets... But its not sounding like its blowing, i hope so tho as i cant think of any other reason for it!

Mate of mine use to have same exhaust on his 16v and he's always been shocked how loud mine is too... :?

The magnex on the 2.0 lump is a lot louder fella, both my 16v's had magnex's and were very quiet in comparision.

oh yer forgot to say mine has a k&n ik so a fair bit of the noise will be coming from there aswell.

And it depends how old your magnex is, they did about 3 designs over the years.

ive just bought one on ebay and its the one with the massive long backbox. any one else have this one? i bet ive gone and bloody bought the stupidly loud one lol

I've blown all the baffles out of my centre silencer so mine is well loud. Fitting a Grp A exhaust soon though so it should be even louder lol.

Mines not overly load and give a nice burble...may be different when I've got the willy lump in though :wink:

I have a Magnex and wouldn't say it was loud, blew the baffles out of mine too, got the center section replaced with a Powerflow one.

I have a magnex straight throu, unsilenced decat back and it sounds spot on.
I have a nice burble on tick over, a deep growl on acceleration and it pops and spits flames :twisted:

Just need to get a silicone reducing elbow so I can fit the viper induction kit :)
