oh f**k, ive just smashed my car up. was coming up a slip road to join the a13, saw the normal set of lights change to amber and the woman in front of me slammed on her brakes. i slammed mine on as i was quite close to her and i started to skid, quickly chucked it left to miss her and ended up hitting her nearside bumper then went up on the pavement and smashed in to a lamppost. damage caused to my car is quite alot, front bumper in half, bonnet proper f**ked, both front wings smashed 1 more than other. angel eye bent in half and the bit that concerns me most is a big metal bit that seems pushed back alot ( chassis i think ) will get some pics up tomorrow of the damage as the car is at my mums house and i did'nt have my cam with me. i think the car may be a wright off but will have a good look tomorrow and try get an expert opn on damage. if it is dead i will get another valver and get my eng dropped in....
the last good pic i took, also it was'nt snowing just wet roads. my fault tho

awww thats harsh news mate if you really think it is that bad, but at least your not gonna try to repair it if it is knowing its unsafe to drive, hopefully you can pick up a valver with a poorly engine seen as you dont need the engine :)

31-12-2005, 12:44
the big bit of metal.... is it the bumper support bar??? if so, you can unbolt and replace.

if you bent the bonnet you prolly also need to replace the bonnet hinges and metal framework which holds the headlights in, iirc it can unbolt, might be part of the chassis though.

took a few pics of the damage, imo its f**ked and not worth repairing. got a quote and bits i would need are bonnet and hinges o/s headlamp, o/sf wing, n/sf wing, front bumber, subframe, L shaped front from behind chassis leg to os headlight, power steering bottle, o/s wing splas sheild, would cost £700 for labour then whatever all the above cost. looks like i may get another valver...

:( Thats nasty mate. I really feel for you. Did you declare the f7r?

did'nt declare it mate but not a problem as im not going through ins ( tpft only). got 4 years no claims up to 5 in six months so im taking this as a knock on the chin and will just buy another valver and drop the eng and coilovers in that. i also knocked the womans bumper off but she is ok with me paying for it.

jay s

jay s
01-01-2006, 13:51
thanks again peeps, adi any idea how much you would charge to repair it? ive been quoted around £700 labour and around £400 for the parts. the thing that concerns me most is i would need a new section from another car ( would need to cut behind the o/s suspension turret to os headlight) and i don't think it would ever be straght but drop me a pm if u like, found this on e-bay but he lives quite far so iv asked if he would meet halfway, seems ok so ill give him a phone http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4600003759&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

sorry to hear it mate....good thing is there are alot of good valvers for sale at the moment so get in there

dannyt
01-01-2006, 18:27
definatly just buy another valver shell as i wouldn't like to get that repaired and it not feel right, it will feel like a waste of money pal!

Daz.
01-01-2006, 19:22
I saw that valver on ebay looks quite nice to me.. I tend to agree with the swapping of the engine etc into a new valver, I wouldn't feel 100% happy having a repaired car with original damage like that.

jay s
