seems like Matt (clowo16v on here) is doing a good job of keeping the barryboys 'gurus' in checks! :D

I don't think it's too bad. As someone has said, no M3 mirrors, Lexus lights, chrome wheels, etc. Will be a classic modified time piece of a car in years to come...

Wouldn't drive it myself though

lol, tossers those guys, someone like to point out to the cunt named 'lusso' that not only will a 'spikey' cammed williams keep up with an Elise, but batter it in a straight line and can EASILY stick to it on the corners...

Martin, if your registered can you kindly post him the vids of 2 live whoopin' some Elise arse?

You used to own a scooby craig. what are your views? :P

Craig
30-12-2005, 15:24
i did have a jap classic scoob indeed mate, it was 280bhp, uprated suspension, exhaust, intercooler and a few other bits and bobs!

shit hot off the mark and out of tight corners. if the clutch and box take it of course! which they often dont!

nana was much more fun and handled better. handling was pretty poo on the scoob tbh COMPARED to a clio with uprated suspension also IMO

scooby was quick, but round a track my money would be on the nana! white clio would wipe the floor with it!

what people seem to forget is that altho a scooby has the 4x4 advantage off the mark and coming out of corners, it looses stupid amounts of HP through the transmission the rest of the time!

a 280bhp scooby will only have 200hp@wheels, and with 1400kg that aint a great deal of power to weight.

the white clio looses less than half that, making it 185@wheels and under 900kg! anyone with a gcse in maths can figure that fuker out so long as they can see past the fact that the car has a turbo and 4x4 so it must be unbeatable!

dont get me wrong it was a pimped beast, and everyone loved it, but perfrormance wise they arent all that unless ur talking type r/p1/etc

It only takes pop3 based email addresses (as provided by ISPs) not web based ones, ie hotmail. Probally a good idea by the look of some of the members on there, obviously used to have a bit of a problem with abuse!

And a standard Sapphire 4x4 has 164bhp/tonne, not 175 (as someone said), and a UK Scooby has 170. A massive difference over a Williams, really

what I dont get is that Lusso guy's complete stupidity... he says the vid of 2 live hunting down the elise proves nothing... (apart from the Willy is quicker in a straight line  ) well what the **** does 2 geeks in a car park doing handbrakes between some cones prove. "yeah clio boys, here iz a propo' drivo' innit, chek diz shit az he pulls up da 'andbrake, fukin knows it brav".

www.Barryboys.co.uk.... if you type www.poshchavstalkingshit.com it comes up with the same page too!

a site about barry cars and they also all own subarus... "I have a Subaru therefore I am an incarnation of Colin Mcrae from the 90's"...

Most people would call it being a superiority complex, I call it being a twat. I would also use some phrases such as "waste of money" and "pizza delivery driver" in the case of the Elise/Impreza lol.

Elises would be good cars if you could get a good one cheaper than a Locost/Westfield etc, but you can't, so they're pointless posers cars for people with more money than sense.

Thats the first time i've heard an Elise referred to as a 'pointless posers car' !!!

Have you ever driven one ?? Total different driving experience to a Caterfield and much more practical. You can also pick them up from 9k now so they are hardly expensive cars !

I've had 4 now. The driving experience is totally unsurpassed.

J o n
02-01-2006, 14:00
their not a pointless car, I quite like them. BUT, they aint that quick and they certainly don't handle better than a Willy, otherwise we'd have not been all over him in the twisty stuff and on the straights...

malbon
02-01-2006, 14:10
Your right. They're not that quick - especially over 80mph. I've had 111s derivatives so they have bit more power and cr gearbox so they are definately not slow i.e 100 in 14. But straightline power isn't really the bag with these. They are so chuckable and rewarding especially with good suspension on.

How it compares with the Willy i don't know as ive still not driven one yet even though im getting one ! Compared to my 172 cup my Elise 111s would murder it for driving satisfaction. Point to point the cup maybe not far behind the elise but it was light years ahead in terms of poise and handling.

The best way for me to describe it is that it felt like... a hot hatch that had been turned into a sports car vs a sports car. Not taking anything away from the cup though as its the best fwd'er iv had but nothing comes close to a good rwd car. I'm hoping the willy i get will be 'as good' as the cup. If it is then im happy :D

i think ul be pleasantly surprised at the williams' handling abilities lol

and the vid was running std shox springs, and fukt brakes (as in errrrrrr none lol)....so a nicely tweeked susp wise one with brakes that actually worked would have murdered the elise even more.....wot u cant see from the vids, is the distance the elise fell back after id passed him and he wasnt holdin me up ...lol...quite funny for the supposed better handling car imo

Zollo
02-01-2006, 16:36
That Elise driver was just a rude knob who couldn't use his car to its full potential though. All things being equal, a standard Elise would be a good couple of seconds a lap quicker than a standard Williams.

It just happens that the Williams is easier to drive at the limit than most sports cars and other performance cars. Hence why we're quicker than supposedly better cars on track days.

Martin
02-01-2006, 18:03
True Zollo....it's been the same on every trackday I've done...the Elise have been driven slowly! It does'nt mean it is'nt a superb track car it just needs a suitable driver to extract it's potential...

malbon
02-01-2006, 18:18
Of course. I have friends who have owned Elises for years and they still can't drive them properly ! I also thought i was a pretty good driver - i've overtook numerous track/supercars on track inc. a 360 CS and a GT3 - both of which i outbraked and outcornered only for them to hack past me on every long straight !

but then i had a px in an elise with a 'proper' pretty good driver ! an ex race driver and now instructor. Now that was an eye opener....

its all about the driver

I have driven one, and it wasn't particularly comfortable (an Exige would probably be better) and it was nowhere near as fun as the Westfield I helped build for my mate, though when that was originally built in 1993 it would eat Cossies for breakfast and when Imprezas and then Evos came out the engine (started as a 130bhp 1700 x/flow but is now a 1850 x/flow making about 185bhp) was upgraded and its faster than those aswell, wasted a FQ340 in it the other day. Good fun and has cost more or less **** all, as every penny he spends he will get back if he sells it.

That's really nice to know mate, but it's got nothing to do with the Elise being a pointless posers car. It isn't :)

Zollo
02-01-2006, 21:19
And an Exige more comfortable than an Elise? :?

malbon
02-01-2006, 21:42
hmmm..thats what i thought.

Exige is less comfortable than the elise buddy

The Westys are good cars but not a car that you would compare to an elise really. 800kgs 120bhp vs 500kgs 130bhp+ gives a pretty conclusive result to which is quickest. plus one is front engined rear wheel drive and one is mid engined rear wheel drive. completely different driving experiences. one is really driven on the back wheels and one has neutral handling.
