Looks alrate to me, it'll grow on folk, I used to hate the looks of the mk2 phase 1 Clio 172... then I bought one lol every incarnation seems to take time to grow on you. No doubt the new un will be a lardy fcuker tho due to new regulations and ncap tests so prob be less nimble, less fun, pretty much like every incarnation, all lost a tiny bit of the original magic.

Nah. In 15 years time - when cars look like bubble freaks, and are battery powered, 2 tonne, green machines - you'll look back at a noisy, 225bhp, 1200kg, lairy hot hatch like this and wish you'd appreciated it more instead of winging :P

It will be very good its different than the 182 and WIlliams not necessarily better ow worse the Williams has no real worries about loosing it title it will be more down to rarity and poor examples which will let the side down.

Ill drink to that! LOL
Why do they have to make new cars with huge arches and 18inch wheels as standard. Its all looks and comfort these days rather than fun driving! The car manufactueres cram them full of heated seats, aircon, elctric mofo-ing everything and it makes it weigh loads more!!

yup, and if something goes wrong, not just a case of getting your tool box out the garage one sunday.... :?

IMO, it looks different and probably feels different enough from the Williams to complement the Williams rather than replace it. Provided it is a decent car in the first place, of course. One for hooligans days and the other for civilised cross-country runs.

I hope they put back the low-torquey engine response and a bit of tail happiness. The current Clio RS, though fast cars, just not my cup of tea without the low-end pull and slidey tail.

i am a self confessed old duffer so....

they just dont make cars like they used to!!!

hate the rear plastic grey lookin diffuser effort, part from that its just a standard clio with bigger rims so not bad but not good either, just dull.

i love the 90's

I think anyone who has been in mine might disagree about the lack of low end torque...mine pulls very well for low speeds (although the topend is a little poorly at the mo) between 150 and 160 ft/lb at 2680 rpm ain`t too bad....

Is that standard torque? That's huge and probably improves the throttle-steer as well :). Sadly, the one I wrung out felt more like a Honda engine - which was like: Nothing, nothing nothing and then boom! All the horses and torque comes in past 4.5k. Guess it's just those weird Reno engine specs variation. Hope they nail down the bhp and lb-ft properly for the new car.

To be honest m8 I`ve looked at the graph again and it was a bit of a cock up but as the torque was doubled....there for the revs may have been halved. (was actually 321lb/ft at 2680rpm. The RR guy new exactly what had happened and said it would be exactly half (torque) so more like 160@5360 (which sounds more like it tbh) but even at low revs looking at the graph it is 137lb/ft @ 3k. I should point out that it isn`t std (well it is on willie .co.uk  ) and only has 6k on this engine so should improve with miles

I actually quite like it. It's not as adventurous as they claimed it would be though. I thought it was going to be something like 60% different body panels, and different lights?

At the end of the day Renault can't build another car like the willy so there's no point pissing and moaning about it. The shape of a modern car is pretty much dictated by EC regs, which is why so many small ones tend to look MPV-ish.

Aye, 'cos they haven't released any official pictures yet. So they're still calling it a concept. But I'd be very surprised if the production version looked any different.

I really like them, would definatley consider buying one :D

I just noticed that front grille is very Ferrari 456-like. Which is a good thing.

IMO, I thought the whole thing looked quite a lot like the Pug 206gti. But with 9.2% less feminine appearance about it. :D
