where are they now ? i remember the times i used to drive a cav sri, and all i saw on the roads at night were xr2's and xr3i's. i couldnt go 5 miles without there being at least 3 or 4 xr's about.

when i had my r5t, it was less of a problem, as there were less about and most of them were haggered anyways.

nowadays, i havent seen an xr2/xr3 in years, and i dont see much on the road that gives me any real hassle (i.e. sat on my rear bumper). - apart from one dickhead who drives a 1.6 fiesta and thinks hes the dogs balarics - just because i dont drive hard in busy traffic and let him pass.

theres also a honda mugen with a big fat tin can of an exhaust, i normally hear him before i see him, and i let him pass - hes an accident waiting to happen.

theres a bloke at work who drives an audi tt, hes not happy with me as hes tried to burn me off at the traffic lights 3 times.

so, who/what gives you the most grief? and when was the last time you saw an xr!

i havent seen one in years! not since i was 16 or so. now only 20 btw! as northy says most are rusted beyond repair. Even newish fords are rusted to ****. horrible cars!

106 Gti's are the cars that give me most trouble. LOL And its pointless them even trying! No idea just how fast mine is. Or that its a hybrid. 8)

my mate had a mint met grey f plate xr2 totally standard on pepperpots, was a nice little car and i think they look great. i had a e plate escort rs turbo a few years back was totally standard 2 previous owners and had 65000mls on the clock, it was white. i put a full mongoose exhaust on it with 4" rolled out pipe it sounded amazing even on idle and u cant beat the sound of the turbo spinning up :D never gave me any problems and i sold it for a profit. i want a white 3dr cosworth one day, a mint standard one. 8)

oh how i loved my XR3!!! was an excellent little car, was my last car i had before i upgraded to the willy 3 nearly 2 years ago now! mine was the slightly rarer XR3 no injection model (twin webbers instead?????) she is still running as we speak! some bloke who comes from london keeps in contact with me via the net and sends me new pics, she looks minter than mint than in these 2 pics that i took a few days before i sold her for a oner!

xr3never had twin webers it had a twin choke weber.

I have had a few, my sunburst red A plater was the nicest.

the mk3 was the nicest escort shape.

Mk2 xr2's were the business as well. Until f plate when they changed form a DMTR to a TLDM carb, lost about 6bhp. Vacuum operated secondary instead of th eearlier carbs mechanical.

mk1 fiesta was also XR2 with the 4 speed box.

Zollo
21-12-2005, 23:04
They made a couple blacks ones, but they're obviously super rare. White's the best colour anyway.

Yeah, Mk3 shell. Look a lot nicer than the Series Two I reckon.

Ye the series 1 is a very cool car, not many genuine examples about now tho, many have been buggered within an inch of there lives, and those that remain ask for serious cash??
I loved that era of motors, early 80's, great cars.
Im still loving this.
