I like to make a one off copy of most of my CDs to use in the car so I can keep the originals in the house and save having loads of empty CD cases lying around.

I've got one at the mo though that is protected. It won't even read it in the drive. Is there any way round this scumbag technology?

Use AudioGrabber, works a treat usually, what protection is it?

EMI's own I think. Can't get the drive to even recognise that there's a disc in there.

A-holes.

This is all very well peeps, but it won't acknowledge there's a disc in the drive so I need to overcome that hurdle first.

Well really before you put the copy protected disc in the drive you should oh held down the shift key, this will stop the cd auto running its protection software and installing itself on your pc. This is only one type of copy protection, there a quite a few, would need to know the specific protection, it should say on the disc somewhere, then I might be able to give you some pointers.

Thats the one, I'll have a gander.

hmm looking at it, can you not try just copying the disc in Nero for example, I know you cannot see the disc in your PC but this is because the PC will see the 2nd session, which is nonsense, where as a Normal CD player will ignore the nonsense and play the the first session (audio).

You should just be able to copy the disc normally, I believe.

Won't do it in Nero FM. You can't even hear the drive picking the disc up if you get me.
