ive also been thinking about doing the widetrack!!!

can anybody gimme a price on it all and also how easy is it to fit??

Martin
18-12-2005, 20:55
I used coilovers Mat..

Dan the above cost £570 quid but you could source 2nd hand bits cheaper... You have to add on springs& shocks or coilovers to those parts.

Alot can be got from GSF, iirc reno wishbones, for teh std clio anyway are £70, gsf is £26 i THINK, or around that

bayliss has done the conversion twice(2 cars) and rich will be doing one soon, both costing them a few hundred quid for the lot :)

Dancliovalver
18-12-2005, 22:26
is it eadt to fit?

Lunner
18-12-2005, 22:27
Yeah pretty easy if you are handy with spanners, don't really need any special tools, apart from ball joint seperator and possibly a hub puller

Dancliovalver
18-12-2005, 22:28
yeah ive got a ball joint splitter, u can help me if u want lunner lol

dont really need a ball joint tool, if your ball joints are ok just replace the wishbones themselfs, usually drive shafts are not to bad to get out of the hubs!

id just advise to use a ramp really, as the most awkward bit is swapping the ARB esp if u do it on the floor!

ive got a mate who owns a gargae with hydrolic ramps and what not, he does me jobs and doesnt charge any VAT, do u know ruffly how many hours it would normaly take??

how do u get the driveshafts out?
and so u need williams suspension/coilovers, or can i modify my 16v avo coilovers?

Depends where you live fella, if you are local i'm more than happy to lend a hand.

Richy......may as well replace ball joints for shiney new ones while it off, lower and track rod ends, also might be worth replacing the ARB bushes

o/s driveshaft there is a 5mm roll pin that needs driving out, diff end, and then pulls out, n/s you need to drain gearbox oil and then just pulls out

Should be able to modify your valver coilovers

Dancliovalver

kool how would i go about modifying my suspension to fit then, make the holes bigger?

richy
18-12-2005, 22:38
very true lunner, me personally id swap them anyway but its not needed if there ok tbh

dan u should use williams shocks really but i suppose if u filed/drilled the avo strut holes and manually adjusted your camber to what u wanted u could get away with that, and yes id replace the arb bushes as u will be removing them anyway, btw the fittings for the arb-wishbones are different on valver and williams so u will need the fittings/bushes anyway

im doing this but its gonna cost me an arm and a leg and probably my left bollock....ill be using all new parts, warranty and plus they will last alot longer!

Ahhhh so those are the fittings that powerflex sell teh bushes for? just a straight cut end on teh arb and the bush slides over and is clamped on? On the Rsi/16v then end of the arb is flat and has a hole and is bolted to the wishbone

Definately the best way of doing it. There's not much point in a wider track front end if it's based on knackered bushes and worn shocks :?

I have all second hand parts for my wide track apart from new bushes.
My setup feels tight and cost me under £500 including getting the car lowered on -35mm springs.
You can do it cheap if you get decent second hand parts but I suppose its a bit of a lottery.
