A couple of days ago i started to hear a weird noise coming from the rear of my car. I thought it was my rear seats squeeking or something but it got worse. now I`m pretty sure it's coming from the rear o/s suspension somewhere, shock or torsion beam???

If i stand next to the car and push it up and down it spqeeks like mad.

When i drive i get the occasional knocking noise from there too :?

Anyone got any ideas on this. Safe to drive etc?

cheers for any help. TriO`

this isn't really a noise that could be wd40'd out.... it's quite harsh. As if my suspension is seriously ****ed or about to break :?

Iv'e gotta drive down to london tonight u reckon i should risk it ?? (about an hours drive)

cheers, TriO`

if every thing is tight underneth and nothing looks cracked I cant see any problems.

unbolt your shock and bounce it, the dampers normally squeek when they letgo.

cud be the rear shock bushes, i just undid my top mount on the offending side and turned it through 180 degrees n bolted it back, been fine ever since! i gotta get new shocks tho eventually, its only a temp fix! :D

under further inspection i have found out that my shock has snapped lol...

snapped or popped out anyway. the metal pole/rod thing is leaning up against the inside or the arch...

Is it ok to drive on the torsion bar or is that really not agood idea ?!?!? i need to get home :?

:D opinions? cheers TriO`

Well you got it there like that so just take it easy.

Will be fine, that corner will just be a little more bouncy than usual, make sure the shock can't damage anything when it moves though

mate dont worry, you'd definitely know if it was like mine...

Oh well, i got home ok last night.. it was very bumpy but i didn't die so all's good 8)

couple of questions.

My other rear shock is koni. when i get my new ones should i get both, bearing in mind im skint and cant even afford one :( can i get away with just replacing one?

If so will a williams shock fit and are they better than a standard valver shock?

cheers, TriO`

is it worth getting uprated rear shocks or will the valver ones do. also does anyone know if there's a difference between the valver and willy shocks??

I think there is a difference between 16v and Williams shocks.. not 100% sure what tho.

Williams rear shocks will fit 16v no probs.
