Alright,

Car overheated today, one of the lower hose's has split, luckily stopped before it could do any damage, hose is now sawed smaller and bodged on and with only water in the coolent system (so keeping it in garage over night)

How much are the standard hoses from renault? and can you buy them on their own?

Also would it be a good idea to replace the whole lot, the aa guy that c ame and sorted it seemed to think i should replace the thermostat, all the hoses, and he recommended that i try and do the water pump, radiator and headgasket my self? not sure why as there was nothign wrong with any of these components.

cheers

seems a bit much for just one hose especially as it sounds like it just burst at the end, plus you managed to not let it get too hot

silicone hoses are pretty cheap on Ebay

which hose is it and ill get you the Renault price

It will be the Rad top hose which comes from the block and has the auxiliary water pump on it.
I can do you a 2nd hand one if you want.

- When did you last change the waterpump?
- Clean the rad fins and flush a couple of times after replacing the hose as a first step.
- Check that the fan cuts-in strongly when the needle is about halfway up the water-temp dial. If temperature still climbs, I would suspect a block/leak somewhere, damaged pump or stat.
- Let us know what else you find out and we''ll try to help.

PS: Make sure you did not "BRUNed"(reversed) the stat. Sorry, couldn't help myself. :D :D

very funny lol

and for some reason i was thinking of the wrong side of the car lol

if it is the rad top hose then its
77 00 832 837 HOSE RADIATOR 44.91+vat

for that kind of money you can get silicone ones

Think im going to go for the second hand hose for the moment and then in the new year get a hole set of new silocone hoses, because the AA bloke said that if one of my hoses is like that then they all will be.

i have no idea when the water pump was replaced, only got the car about a month ago. let u know about all the other things later on today hopefully
