Mine took about 3.5 litres the other day. Was on a level surface.

Agreed, 3.5 litres of oil is renault recommended max.

You only really need 3L but booked capacity is 3.4L for 16v and 3.1L for Williams.

Thought mine took nearer 3.7 which is why I got 5 litres of Millers. And last change before that with Redline used 4 Quart bottles which are just under a litre each. Thats to the top of the fill hole.

I just filled it till it came was level with the filler plug.

Used Redline stuff before after reading lots of good comments. Basically MX5 users use it as a cure for a notchy 1st to 2nd gear change.

It is more expensive these days and is only sold in Quart bottles I believe. Stupidly drained mine instead of engine oil so had to replace with Millers which is good but IMO the Redline is better.

Think Matt Brown also used the Redline in the 2.0 Red Valver years back.

Got Millers for mine, but haven't driven it yet, so can't really comment if it is any good.

My gearbox is brand new.
