Nah, id still rather have the veyron tbh. It would be nice tellin someone down the pub that you car has a 8 litre W16 quad turbo engine with 1001bhp lol. Got to be better than some yanky shit too. You really think the viper will go round corners? I posted a vid of one crashing with just 400bhp lol

Getting a 1000 ponies isnt that much of a big deal to be fair. Hot rodders have been doing it for decades. As soon as you run a mildly tuned big block chevy engine, thats run on twin turbos your easily going to get upwards of 800 hp so.

I was watching American hotrod and they did a 65 corvette, tubed rears suspension, very trick car, running a big block V8, twin turbos and churning out 1500bhp!!! Thats what i call DIRTY!! :twisted:

Even my oldmans Mazda Chevy used to kick out about 450bhp on IDA's from a F5000 engine n/a in the 70's!

As the Yanks say, "there aint no substitute for CC's".

Yeh everybody takes the piss out of Yankee V8s as standard they make shit power for the size but thats because they're so restricted. The Audi I crew on makes 1800bhp from a 7.9 litre engine with a single supercharger. 0-60 in 1 second and cost a fraction of 840gg's lol.

I'd deffo take the Veyron, but would strip the bastard out, put a K&N IK on it and an exhaust, then take it to chip wizards... 1001bhp... for pussies that

I thought 1001bhp was the ATW figure and that the actual engine is running well over 1500bhp but it loses loads through the transmission and cooling system.

No, that's at the fly. But it's actually running comfortable over 1000. They just quote 1001 as a nice looking figure.

The thing with the Veyron is that it's designed to produced that power for thousands of miles, for years and years to come, and it shouldn't need a rebuild every thousand miles or so, like a Chevy V8 producing that kind of power. And it's also civilised and very easy to drive, which no other big power cars can match.

Yeh i'm not knocking the Veryon its an absolutely amazing car i'm still suprised its been built I'd have thought the Greenpeace tossers would have tried to have it banned. Can't wait for some of the technology to start filtering down to lesser cars.

Actually just to correct the story about it being 1001bhp.....


Basically when the designers got together they wanted to build something that hadnt been done before, the fastest supercar to 60, 100, 150 etc. When they had their first press conference about it with the motoring world they stated that it would have at least a 1001bhp.

That was their marker, they had to acheieve that at the very least. As it turns out from further engine development, and then testing etc it was actually putting out more like 1180 bhp.

Good effort though :D

There's been loads of different power figures quote for the Veyron. Also heard it's got 1050 and 1100bhp, but whatever it is, it's frickin' powerful :shock:
