Hello

I'm in the process of getting a Williams and should be looking at a couple over the weekend. I've had a strict diet of Elises and Exiges over the past few years with a Honda S2k and 172 Cup thrown in for good measure ! but have decided to get something a little more practical over the winter whilst i save for next elise - which will be a little supercar tamer !

Anyway just a few question.

Ill want some of the Williams logo mats - where can i get some ?

Interior Re-trims - anyone had one done and in what colour/material ? Im thinking a black/blue 2 tone alcantara ? or maybe just put some cobra's in ?

Service Intervals -what are they ?

Reliability and MPG ? This will be my everyday car till spring time.

Trackdays ? How fragile are they ? Will I break it ?? ;-)

Is there an FAQ section here ?

How quick will it be compared to my old cup which to me felt about 20bhp off the pace ? I'm going to need more power aren't i ?

Is there a decent independent specialist in the midlands ?

Think thats about it ! I know i should search the archives but thought id say hello at the same time :D

hello and welcome mate, i'm from alfreton about 10 mins from derby.
mpg - i can get 35+ if i take it steady, but thats not very often
everybody will tell you different regarding reliability, ive had my valver as a daily driver since may and she's never missed a beat (apart from not starting after i got back off holiday, but it was stood 3 weeks so its understandable)
if you get a decent looked after example you shouldn't go far wrong. :)
loads of people on here do trackdays with them, the cars love it :P

Cheers fellas.

There seems to be a good selection available at the moment. I've talked to a few people so hopefully should be in possesion soon. If so then might possibly do Donnington on the 29th . £99 !

Hi mate - shame you couldn't stretch to buying 0062...

Oh well - you must miss your motorsport elise though - that was mint 8)

And as mentioned above - any work you need doing, Hill Power is the place for all your Williams needs!

hiya from sunny suffolk - as far as reliability goes - mine has been my daily runner for the last 2 years and has never let me down. she does about 320 miles to a tank [I never let her get beyond the first flicker of the low petrol warning light] - have fun :D

will post some pics at the weekend. willy 3 on 86k miles. 2 previous owners. 1 of them the garage owner having it serviced there for the first 70k miles. second owner had it a year, had a fully respray done in monaco - for cosmetic reasons only - gold wheels with the lip done at the same time. 1500 quid service at hillpower 2k miles ago to inc. new clutch/cambelt/valve clean/stage 1 remap. pipercross, magnex exhaust with ktec decat - which is coming off - the decat that is - far too chavvy for me  new eagle f1's all round, new drilled and grooved disks all round, new kevlar pads/mint interior/1 stone chip on the whole car  those expensive ebay williams mats...erm stainless braided hoses, all original equipment like parcel shelf/radio/cat kept seperately..erm williams coat, umbrella and first aid kit  ....soon to have a new steering rack put in due to loads of play :( ... bit of upgraded ice in there with a little boot sub.....basically what i was originally after so im happy. will try and get some pics up soon.

Blimey, sounds bloody good. Glad you found a good 'un. Didn't take that long either 8)

The steering play will make a massive difference to the car once sorted. Are you sure it's the rack and not just the column that needs welding though?

Erm....decat? Chavy? :?

lol...cheers fellas. yep - the decat is far too loud. fantastic when you start it up and blip but even on half beans it attracts too much attention and im almost embarrased to nail it. im 26 now. an old boy by all accounts on here  the garage reckons its in the rack - a pug specialist - but i will mention about the column. like i said...it got serviced at hillpower only a few months back so my pug man who knows nick is going to call him for the lowdown. lets hope i can just stick a weld on there then. i paid what you would call top buckeroo for an 80k miler but id rather not say until iv decided whether im keeping it or not. sure i will though. i flew to edinburgh to get this - yes im ****ing serious about my cars  and it took me a tank, a steady 95kph with some 120 kph blasts and 280 miles. woohoo cant wait to rip that sub out, take off the spare wheel and give it leather around donnington 8)

Yeah, definately worth finding out for sure about the column/rack, because there have been a lot of people on here saying garages have wrongly diagnosed the play being in the rack.

Have you got a Pipercross induction kit or panel filter on it? If it's an induction kit, then it'll make it a lot quieter taking that off.

its a foam cone type thing and not a cold feed. its not overly loud - just nice and whistly - its just the exhaust that roars too much. im not sure what kind of decat it is - in my experience there is a straight through decat and a a wadded type silenced decat. maybe i need of those. thanks of the advice on the rack - ill pass it on. he reckoned they'd quoted 180 for a new rack - is this right :?:

You'd be much better off replacing the cone filter for a standard airbox and a panel filter. I'd have thought Nick Hill would have plenty lying around, or if not LTR (Winston from this site) will probably have one. It's worth doing because the cone filters (particularly without cold air feed) don't work well on Clios. They just suck in hot air. Plus it won't make an embarssing racket when you floor it!

Not a clue how much a new rack is tbh, sorry!
