Due to having a really crap front (looked like someone poured stripper on the wing) i decided to do a DIY spray job,

Here are some of the pics

After sanding it down to the base plastic which is a nice yellow / mustard colour and primering it all back up i got this.

And after leaving that to dry i have whacked on the first layer of paint,

Will try and get a better camera once its all done so you can see how it comes out ;)

When i was doing mine, you do 3-4 coats about 15 mins between them, and then laqure (if its metallic), 3-4 coats of laqure after about 30-60 mins....each coat 15-20 mins apart.

The leave for a good week+ if in normal house temps, or if you ahve it under halogen lights or sommet a day or so....or in teh airing cupboard for a couple of days.

The rub down with lots of water and 2000 grit wet and dry till its smooth as a baby's bottem, then polish wiht G3 cutting compound on a foam applicator on a random orbital sander ideally, then polish with normal car wax :)

Did have a thread on cliosport i think when i did mine, but i can't find it now

yeah as lunner said, but im not going to rub down the last coat of paint, i did that last time and the depth was'nt so good and so this time im just going to leave the last coat of paint before i put the laqure on

Lunner when you say rub down at which stages did you do it ???

last time i tried it did it after every layer of paint and it came out ok but not great, as it says on the can on laqure to sand the paint down before you apply the laquire, but that came out crap :(

so this time im not sanding at all other then the primer which i got really super smooth and then going to wet and dry down only after the laqure is done then polish with my buffing machine

Sorry guys i do have a life

Only sand after all teh laqure has been appalied and the paint has had a fair old while to harden.

If you end up wiht an orange peel effect sand down with teh old 2000 grit again ont eh base coat before you apply the laqure, and then give it another dust over with base coat.

If you don't get an orange poeal effect on teh base coat then you only sand the laqure with 2000 grit wet wet an dry
