Were the williams sold europe wide?? I ask as i saw my first italian registered williams today. Stood out like a sore thumb amongst the millions of Fiat Punto's in Turin.

Did they also sell the 2 & 3 all over europe? This looked like a williams 1. From what i saw of it.

yes they were sold across europe but they were all known as williams's was never a 2 or a 3! 2's and 3's were only in the uk!

So did they have 3 batches of williams' as it were then? or just the original willaims'?
Does that make sense?

thats a very good point you make.
in italy anyway they do not regard them as numbers just see them as some having the number on the dash and others that did not.
its a different point of view really to what we've see in the UK.

iirc they still got newer ones ie 2 and 3 but just classed as williams n reg or williams 95/96 etc

well i reckon you had all the different facelifts of the clio like the phase 2 etc etc but they would have all been known as just williams' not sure if they had a williams over there with all the refinements of the williams 3 (which would still have been known as a williams abroad and not a williams 3)

They are all over Europe....France, Belgium, Switzerland(Swiss Champ)..different decals...Italy, Germany.....Phase 1 has gold plaque like the Swiss Champ, all others just called williams no numbers.

I have never seen a Williams 3 spec anywhere else, I believe it was because the Williams was sold in the thousands in europe. The UK production run was supposed to be exclusive and was imported in far fewer numbers, with all 3 models having subtle changes.

Does anyone know the worldwide production figures for the Williams? I could find out if not...

Zollo,i spent some time last week looking over posts on the French and Italian site. They tried to figure out numbers from the engine codes however dont think they managed to figure it out.
The problem is that while the williams was rolled out up in Dieppe the numbering plate for engines was done elsewhere.Thats my understanding.

I read an article on a Belgian ( I think) Williams and that was number 2000 and something.

Rare my arse.

I saw an absolute minter of a williams one in Gran Canaria. Had a plaque but I couldn't see the number. Got some pics somewhere.

I just went into the main Renault Website and posed the question to the relevant dept and Bingo they emailed back the next day

You would like to know how many Clio Williams were manufactured in total.

Approximatively 12.075 Clio Williams were produced.

We hope we've answered your question.

Thank you for your visit at www.renault.com
