Ok, i'm in the market for a new set of rubber, but i'm stuck on which set to buy...

I've been reading reviews on both of these and i'm stuck...they all get good reviews...anybody tried both sets???

Also do I go for 185/55's or 195/50's? I'm running 185/55's Toyo's at the mo', which everyone know is the stated profile for the Willy, but it seems generally 185/55's are more expensive and i'm not talking by a fraction either.

Someone help me decide...

well if u want a slightly harder ride, but more cornering stability........go for 195s........if u like the body roll and have 4" deep potholes evrywhere on the roads near u.....get 185s......cant comment on the make as iv not tried both.......but the pe2s are excellent tyres

As a recent review of the Williams said:

'Renault really hit the sweet spot with the Williams'

Do you really want to go and piss all their testing up the walls and fit 195's?

I have had Goodyear Eagle Ventura's and think they are brilliant, had them on 2 1.9 pug GTi's aswell as the williams.

Had Federal ss595 on my Civic Type-r and they were really good too, wore well, great grip in the dry and wet, quiet and only £49 a corner for 17"ers.

Yeah exactly...

But 185/55's they're an extra 20 quid a corner...why are 185's so expensive in comparison???

Less common size, so not produced in as many quantities.

generaly the eagles and toyos are soft compound so wont last anywhere near as long as the michelins you get the best of both worlds with the mich pe2s they grip well and last a lot longer and have a masive rim protector and non directional the perfect tyre for the willy !

Illusion ive just fitted a set of 195/50/15 goodyear eagle f1 gs-d3's... gotta say they are bloody amazin compared to what i had previously (p6000's), and they've saved me from rear ending ppl more than once now in the wet.

Superb is all i can say... not tried the michelins, but i dont think you can go wrong with either.

The goodyears look very cool as they have a very agressive V pattern... Also you might wanna look into getting Bridgestone Potenza 720's (i think its 720's), as these are also very good, slightly more expensive than the goodyears.

Go for 195's unless you're gonna be doing single track country lanes all the time :)

They found 195's on Hitlers staff car after the Second World War. Its been proved by historians that the reason Germany lost the war was because the Russians used the superior 185's.

Same as mate, nothing but praise for the F1's. 195's of course.

And my F1s have done about 15k and the fronts only just need changing, so wear isn't an issue.

Also, Goodyear don't do the GSD3 in 185/55/15, you'd need the GSD2
