3 options:

Manual Rack

Mechanical Power Stearing

Electrical Power stearing

Not fussed about teh stearing being heavy, had my 1.2 with 195's on and that was fine wiht manual stearing, one thing that is worrying me though, someone said the manual rack is alot more sloppy and has less feel to it then the PAS rack.

Obvously electrical power stearing is best of both worlds, the Rsi's that had air con had an electrical PAS pump, but i need to find about 3 relays for it, as well as the pump, which is prolly gonna be a reno jobbie, so not cheap.

Also the 1st and 3rd options have the advantage that they aren't draining 5 bhp off the engine

Just get an ordinary manual rack - steering is fine with it and not sloppy in any way.

Electric power steering will still make a slight drain on performance - this is why you should not race with stereo/lights etc on and why turning the alternator off will provide more power.

Manual rack it is, i believe you do kits for the conversion?

Or is it just buy a manual rack and fit that

You need to buy a manual rack and column and a kit from bondy - £50 iirc

Aye, as winston says you need the bracketry/belt from bondy which is 50quid, and also a manual column and rack...secondhand will do as the manual columns don't exhibit the same wear/loosness as PAS ones.

I'm almost sure i know how to do it using genuine renault parts but bondys kit still seem to work out ever-so-slightly cheaper...guess he has a discount or custom makes some of it...?
