Bonhams Catelog guide price puts the car at 7k-10k

it arrived this morning.

Quote from the literature "Williams had no input into the design or manufacture of the clio that bore their name."

quite correct, imo it would have been much MUCH better uf they had an input

y0z2a
24-11-2005, 14:24
yes, but everyone already knew that...

it was just a quote from the book.

they have a 6R4 in there too, but, they designed a lot of that like the renault touring cars.

hmm, £7k-£10k only, must means Stromba's is only worth about £4k-£6k then... lol

y0z2a
24-11-2005, 14:39
thats a guide price.

I would have thought it will go for more than that.

normally 20-30% more than guide price if the buying market is there.

Do you reckon you get the engine and running gear with those later F1 cars?

For 30K I'm guessing not. Although they would be great to see in the EuroBOSS series.

It's worth what people are willing to pay for it, same goes for 0002.

If I had the money I would pay twice that to get my hands on it, probably one of the very few chances people will get to actually buy this car!

Rudders16v
25-11-2005, 11:23
I suppose who ever buys it will probably be someone with stacks of cash who'll store it away in some barn just to have it as a 'museum piece'

But, if someone wanted to actually drive the car, wouldn't it need money spent on it? Im guessing with those miles, its probably stands for years at a time without moving, or do you think they give it a little run every now and then to keep things working.

Tyres can't be all that good after standing for 13 years!! Just wondered how the engine would have stood up to not being used?

sorry to put a damper on this fantasic car guys - but did'nt this car no.0001
get written off? and then rebuilt to go in a museum?
I heard that from the programme deals on wheels . got the dvd with the presenter telling me so. :(
And no.2 was reg p246fku ?
Please correct me if my info is complete rubbish.

think 002 was reg p246 orv, dont think 001 was written off, lots of rumours surronuding the car.

Enid
26-11-2005, 09:35
0001 was never written off. Before they built 0001 (The first Williams) they built two prototypes No.1 and No.2, prototype No.1 was written off during testing and the other prototype was dismantled after they had finished with it.

I would rather spend 4K on a minter and 4K on Quality Mods....if this car is bought to use rather than be kept like a piece of Art to occasionally look at...20,000 miles later it's the same as any other William's IMOH.

8k are you really going to take it to a Tesco car park, you will end up being like the Owner of 0002 afraid to drive it properly

0002's been driven well if you ask me, from what ive seen no ones been scared to drive it, i know 0001's been driven by a few people, 0002 will be the same etc.

Its a hard one to call.....if it was me, i'd like to be able to afford a bid on it.

I always thought that a certain person had 0200 to drive hard and 0002 to drive like Miss Daisy :?

If it goes for between 6 and 8K it is better value than number 400 on Ebay!

LH drive would suit me

I always thought that a certain person had 0200 to drive hard and 0002 to drive like Miss Daisy :? - he does, but every magazine in the country has thrashed it round track at some point... so how it's on original tyres I don't know... I'd say that's more KS bullshit personally.

I reckon you should buy an LHD and RHD Williams... the UK one you can take to FCS once a year and do the odd trackday :D

Zollo
29-11-2005, 12:16
Manufactures always run quite a few of the same model as press cars... 0002 wouldn't have been the sole road test whore! I've seen L141 TBP in car magazines.

And they usually only run them for about 3 to 4 thousand miles before selling them on or whatever, so if the car wasn't thrashed after that, then they do stand a chance of surviving to 20,000 miles

400 has been for sale before - last time i saw it was in the autotrader.

Never saved anything bar the pictures.

think its the other way around nick 0002's been driven well, & 0200 has been well looked after for the last year and a half to my knowledge.

Roamer, Daz & Myself went to see 443 (or something like that)

Immaculate car.

HPI was fine, just could not verify its number.

My dealer told me it was a Williams one on their system, there was just something odd about it...

I'm not just going for the clio. The Lagunas interest me just as much. Probably bigger bargains than 001.

Seen some pics of 0001. How come its left hand drive? I thought the hole point of numbering them was so there are 400 for the uk :? 400 for another country and so on.

If i was to buy 0001 i would trash the shit out of it lol. No point in locking it up imo. Thats for people trying to make a few ££££ :D

Re my last post. Apparently 0001 went to King Stromba for almost 20K!!

Dont know how true it is though. The rest of the F1 Williams, over 20, were all bought WHOLE by a private owner (confirmed by the auction house), so the actual auction never went ahead it would seem as everything was bought before it could go ahead!
