Hi Danny. I'm based in Norwich. The car has two previous owners. According to the log book a women first bought the car then a guy who i bought the car - sold it to me. He looked after it well but needed the cash to buy a house with his g/firend. He made sure it was serviced every 6,000 miles and owned the car from 60,000. he owned this car for 3 years and i have all his receipts.

This is a nice looking car. Is its on the trader for £3650.

I think your about £500 too expensive.

Have you had any problems with it and how long have you had it?

I just got paid out £3700 for my williams 2, so £3500 is a good price for a looked after williams. Get a cheaper one if you will but be prepared to spend £££££££££

There seems to be a lot more on the forum with a lot less miles for cheaper money.

I just think £3500 is a lot when its done 100'000 miles.

Dont want to be buying someone elses problems.

Its will of had all the major jobs done to it now that ALWAYS go wrong between 70-80k. Condition is so much more important the mileage on these cars.

Alright chaps! I bought it back in September and I've had no problems with it at all.
But as i'm new to the Williams 3 I decided to get it checked out by Renault. They said they would do a 25 point inspection on it for free. They were only supposed to look at the car for an hour turned out to be 3 hours and they wrote a detailed report of what needs to be done.
They said its the best they've seen and could not fault the engine. the report advised i changed the brake flexi hose NS and OS suspension mount. Suggested I get the oil changed as the service was due soon after i bought the car so i did everything they suggested. Like I said it drives very well better than 'clioworlds' as i drove his all the time and definately no whinning from the power steering.
But i thought i was going to keep the car so I've spent loads on this recently.
New parcel shelf - original was a bit perished
Tax Disc holder (williams of ebay)
New Seat Belt pretentioners £126.00
New Number plates - both had rust on the bolt areas
Spark plug cover - £15
Garage costs £200 for oil changes, suspension and flexi hose
Magnecor leads blue - £60
Fuel filter - £15
Rotor arm and distributor cap - £30
Splitfire Plugs - £50
K&N direct replacement filter - £50
2 x New Key Fobs £20
Mobil 1 - £70
New tyres - £250

Like i said nothing needs to be done - some lucky guy or gal
can just drive it!
If i could afford to keep both a williams 1 and a 3 i would.
When i put the price in the trader I really didnt know what price to put.
from your thoughts guys I will most probably make it a more realistic price.
I've just spent soo many hours fixing lights / window runners / and rear wash wiper systems and now its mint i decide to sell it! there must be something wrong with me. But keep your comments rolling in good or bad.
thanks
Jason

You'll get what your asking for it, don't alter your price. IMHO it's sensibly priced with all thats been done, especially if its rust free too.

My car was fantastic and you didnt drive it all the time. You only drove it about 3 times.

I still have the text messages you have sent saying

14-11-05

"my new car is costing me a bomb to make it look as good as yours. if i continue i may go well over budget, wish i bought yours now"

Just wondered have you been spraying the rear arches in your garage again? There looks to be a dodgy faint line around the arch picture? Did you do as good a job as on the black one?

and

07-11-05

"Im after another Williams 3 is yours still for sale? and im not joking"

I dont believe for one minute you want a Williams 1 and the only reason your selling yours its becasue things are staring to go seriously wrong with it.

I warned you about buying a cheap williams but would you listen? NO, and now your paying the price.....literally.

Oh and by the way everyone, he paid £2800 for it.

I would not have put this message but you crossed the line when you start saying things about my car.

Oh and yes i did sell it, for £4k, to a realy good home, Thanks.

First of all in my defense. Yes I did buy the car for £2800 and I have spent loads doing it up. only whats mentioned above.
Im not going to get into a slangin match i'm above all that!
Known my old friend for over 3 yrs and you see how he treats me?

All i can say mate is your just bitter i didnt buy yours.
You had rust round the wheel arches bubbled inside and your steering column was suspect. And at 69,000 the cars about to go wrong.
Glad I didnt buy yours - as for my comments on text, I was actually trying to be friends with you again. Glad I didnt. Dont trust him he's a dodgy policeman.

I have not sprayed the williams its mint just as it is.
but youre right i'm after another williams 3 if i told everyone im looking at another williams 3 in somerset this weekend everyone will want it. can you blame me? according to most on this forum though he commited the ultimate sin a re-spray? but that does not bother me.

bought the car for £2800 but everything i mentioned above is the honest truth. The real reason im selling this now is because I want one thats got only 29k on the clock because im gonna keep it forever!!! I love the Williams 3. sorry one and all for tellin white fibs.

Spent a grand on it now so the cars worth £3500 ono

You have already prooved to everyone on here that you lie. Why tell everyone you want a Williams one if you love the 3. If theres nothing wrong with it then why sell it looks fine to me.

Also why tell people you drove my car all the time. You didnt. I find that hard to believe when i live in North Yorkshire and you live in Norich.

Im not realy interested anyway i just wanted to warn people what your like.

Just so you know my car was original, technically sound as it was always serviced by John Cooper of Coopers garage, West Yorkshire. (A Renault Specialist endorsed by the Renault Owners club). Ring him and ask him and he will tell you mine was one of the best he had seen, So dont start saying it was going to break because it wasnt.

Id only be bitter if you had have bought it, thank god you didnt.

If you do believe Jason then please ask james the new owner im sure he will also disagree with jasons comments.

It looks a bit dodgy when you said you were only selling your car to buy a Williams 1.

Are you afraid your car is going to cost you a lot more money is that why your selling it mate? A grand is a lot to spend since septmeber.

Thanks for nothing oliver.
Now everyone has me down as a liar i would suspect.
So now I probably wont be selling the car.
I will still buy the one in Somerset if its okay.
Then i'll have 3!

The only thing wrong with my williams is it has 99,000 miles on the clock
but the price is well justified.
Thanks
Jason

To be fair you have lied so i suppose the other guy is right.

If you paid £2800 for it no matter what money you have put in to it you wont get that back. Would you take £3000 for it mate?

I know but if i said im after another williams 3 to you chaps alarm bells start ringing. I was trying to get the car better than my mates ggrr ex mate but as you know everything adds up! and by the time i get the wheels powder coated and the rocker cover resprayed it really will be mint but i would have spent over £4000!
So i thought okay its will be mint at £4000 but i saw a williams 3 by david silvera on this site that looks awesome! He want £4000 and everything is done. I've worked soo hard making this mint and then i see david silvera.

at the end of the day davids will always more desirable as it has less miles

That's the exact same predicatment I was in. Why spend a fortune on mine when I can buy one already sorted and save the hassle. Now I've got a mint one, and some else (on here) has a bargain and very sound Williams. Everyone's happy

No worries big hp. I just had to clarify a few things for the benefit of everyone.

I think what i put is relevant for anybody interested in this car. I think they should have the full facts before they buy. I realy dont want to start a bitching match on the forum, thats just childish and a waste of everybodys time.

It was that last straw when Jason put that he drove my car all the time, i couldnt believe it! i realy didnt want to have to speak to him again but I thought it was just cheaky. I wanted to clarify this for the benefit of the new owner of my car and all you guys in the club.

I dont realy have anything to gain by posting lies and i could have put a lot worse comments if i just wanted to be bitchy, the last thing i want is to get peoples backs up and cause myself undue stress and hassle!

Most of you will im sure feel the same that if you own a Clio Williams your part of a big family of equally fanantical people and your car is like your baby. Well mine was anyway and over the 12 months i owned my car you wouldnt believe the attention it had from me. I was truly gutted to sell it and know it was one of the best left in the country so when someone puts it down i cant help but defend it as it was my pride and joy. Im sure it will be at some of the meets in the near future so you can make your own mind up chaps.

Finally its come to my attendtion that Jason is telling everyone that Im a Police man and thats why im being "funny". Well yes i am a PC so its in my interest to warn memebers of the public about rougue traders! I see it all the time people losing ££££'s so i wouldnt want it to happen to any of you chaps.

Well thats enough from me, i promise there will be no more bitching or wasting anybodys time with drivel you dont need to here. If you would like to chat then just drop me a PM.

Besides what you may think of the Police they cant be all bad............ Some of them drive a Clio Williams!

Cheers guys!

I'll be off to view David Silvera's in Somerset this weekend. Cant believe his has really done 29k. If I like it i'll have two!
one for track day and one for sunday best! Yipee

Im not sure how Jason will feel about this, (and sorry to hi-jack your thread, but im in Norwich to (with-in about 5-7 miles of each other i'd guess!). I keep getting people phone me up, but not wanting to drive all the way to Norwich. Well now there's an even better reason as anyone wanting a Williams can now come to Norwich and look at 2!!

My car is mint, and can be seen on my thread. And from the pics Jason's looks very nice to (surprised i've never seen either this or your black Clio around actually mate?). So why not come to Norwich, you're sure to be happy with one or the other. Mine is cheaper, but has done more miles. And mine is a 2, whereas Jason's is a 3, so whatever Williams anyone is looking for, i'm sure you'd find the ideal car with either one of ours!!

Just an idea anyhow!

As I mentioned to everyone this car drives brilliantly and looks great. Thanks for the complements.
But like all things its not perfect so heres the faults

dent devils said they could repair these for £135 without a respray!

Slight rust underneath the doors.

rocker cover needs a powder coat.

To be honest mate rust is more a age related factor, even mine has started to show tell-tale sign's of rust around those plastic clips on the lower door sills... And mine's spent half its life in a blanket, lol

To be honest mate rust is more a age related factor, even mine has started to show tell-tale sign's of rust around those plastic clips on the lower door sills... And mine's spent half its life in a blanket, lol

i can just imagine you driving round with the blanket on

Jeez...life should not be this hard

Jason (willy3ams) came the see the car today.....

Bad news...he didnt buy it - reasons:

Mainly to do with it being the wrong blue - he reckons its not Monaco...I agree it is a bit more purple. Im sure if you pm him he'll happily fill u in on issues he had with the colour and various bits and pieces

Everthing to do with the mechanics of the car are fine - we even went to the garage and spoke the garage owner about the car (they have serviced it since the prev owner bought it) - they pretty much verified everything i say about it being a great car - the milage is genuine and i now have print outs of previous service histories etc...thanks to Jason.

Im sorry Jason came all this way to see it and return car less - it is a long way to come....

He offered me 3K and went upto 3.2k - I refused.

Jason also thought that the gold on the wheels was the wrong colour....

The guy who came the prev week never mentioned the colour or the body work....hes a member of the club but i dont know his id...he questioned whether the cambelt had been changed at 17k - it is written and stamped in the service history - the garage confirmed it was changed.

As for me I am really passed caring now - the car is still 4K with 28500 on the clock ....
I shant get it reprayed unless i can get it done for free....

Watch this space.....

I have tried to be open and honest about this car from the word go...I have nothing to hide - even at 4k I stand to lose over a grand - all my own fault....chat with Jason for more info....

Dave

I second everything David has said. Spot on.
Just got back from the longest round trip i've ever done! some 640miles! but it was all in the black clio. So glad I use that as my runaround it never lets me down

I'm writing this for the benefit of anyone who wishes to know more about davids car and to save them the time and hassle. oh and not to mess david about.

Ok down to business. To recap I went down to Minehead today to look at a Williams 3 with only 29K and FSH and a brand new re-spray. If I liked it i'd be buying his and definately be selling mine.

Had a nice drive there met up with David he's a very nice chap.
1st showed me the service history. the service history starts about 3,000 mile - i later asked the garage about this and we suspect it may have been a test drive car before the first owner. The service history is not 100% there's stamps every 6,000 miles but the owner did not service the car atleast once a year. (theres a 2 year gap basically)

We filled the car up and went straight to the Garage. They really could not praise the car enough - all the servicing and known history of the car can be found from this garage. I spoke to the owner Andrew who explained that the 1st owner was an old lady who barely drove it!
This may be hard to believe but its infact true in my opinion. The MOTs are present and correct since '98 and the stamps are in the book.

The car felt very much like mine - almost identical. The clucth was a tad lighter and the gearbox changes were very very nice! Reminded me of the time I got my 1.4rt gearbox done.
Steering was precise with no whinning noises from the powersteering.
I was very impressed by how it drove. Mechanically its very good!
Popped the bonnet and yes that tapperty noise from the engine is there even at 29k. The engine was a little dirty but overall untouched and un abused by the looks of things.

But this is the sad news guys!
The guy who sprayed the car - sprayed it in the wrong colour!!

It would appear that williams fanatics have been to look at david's car and walked away - time after time but didnt have the heart to tell him.
(i guess)
But the fact is the re-spray was infact 'sports blue' and not the 'monaco blue' 462 which makes the williams 3 so good looking!
I've sprayed panels on my black clio in my time (and made some real silly mistakes but imagine spraying an entire car the wrong colour and then attempting to blend it everywhere beyond the lip?
Big big mistake and like David says i think the gold on the wheels was wrong.
Its such a shame but like all things they can be fixed. oh at a cost!
I told dave to take it back to the garage and explain they made the mistake they should fix it!
Not sure on the outcome of this... I'll wait and see.
Only other option i could see was to make him an offer for the car less the price of a respray. naturally as he spent soo much money getting work done on the car it has crippled him and now he just wants rid!

My advice David is to cut your losses and they are hefty one's seek a professional sprayer and get the entire car resprayed monaco blue.
Also refurb the wheels the correct gold - clean it so clean you can use it as a mirror to look into and then just sell it to anyone here. I assure you
it will be worth £5500! when its finished and be Simply the Best!
Or just keep and live each day knowing what a mistake!

Today has made me realise just how fantastic my williams is both mechanically and on looks. I've decided i'm going to keep it - as I explained before theres nothing wrong with it just high mileage. But even that does'nt bother me now. With regular oil changes I think these engines are good for 300,000 miles. Everything else may fall of by then but the engine with still be running.
Still got loads to do with mine £££s
new cam cover - powder coated
new rocker cover - powder coated
wheels - 5 powder coated with polished rim
repair dents - by dent devils
but its going to be worth it in the end.

I'm soo sorry to all the guys who showed interest in viewing the car.
I really thought that davids williams was the one! But instead it made me think what a little corker i alreadly have.
many thanks
Willy3ams (Jason)

its a bit of a difficult situation if you need a respray on a car where the colour means everything and all fans know the colour of by eye.

personally, even if the paint was v shite i dont think i would spray a williams unless i was 100% aboot the colour

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had arranged with Jason to come and view his car on Sunday.

Last night he told me he had changed his mind as the Clio he went to look at was not what he wanted.

I feel messed about seing as I took the day off and arranged a mecanic friend to come with me, this was not easy either as i live in Leeds.

I wish he had been straight with me from the start as i would not have gone to this trouble otherwise.

It was never mentioned that he had to buy another Williams Clio before he got rid of his.

I should have listened to the other posts about this guy.

Never again!
